German "Toriyama Akira Marusaku Gekijou" Release in 2014

Post by Javaki » Sun Dec 01, 2013 7:46 am

Last week, Carlsen Manga! announced the release of "Toriyama Akira Marusaku Gekijou" as "Toriyama: Short Stories" in Germany - starting in June 2014.

The German "Short Stories" will be released in reversed order, which means "Short Stories 1" will include the one-shots of "Marusaku Gekijou Vol. 3", "Short Stories 2" the ones from "Marusaku Gekijou Vol. 2", and "Short Stories 3" will cover the stories of the first "Marusaku Gekijou" volume.

"Toriyama: Short Stories 1" will be released 27 May 2014 and is available for preorder on amazon.de, "Toriyama: Short Stories 2" is slated for release on 26 August 2014.

As stated on their forum, Carlsen is also planning to re-release NEKO MAJIN as a tankōbon (the German kanzenban was released in 2007):
Kai-Steffen Schwarz on Carlsen Manga! GO! GO! ACKMAN) kommt zuerst raus, u.a. deswegen, weil er immer wieder von Euch gewünscht wurde).
Translation:
The idea for this edition was actually ours, and it seems that the SHONEN JUMP-Editorial and, of course, Toriyama-sensei were so happy about it, they actually allowed us to release it as paperback. But before that, we will start with the short stories - But in reversed order: the third volume (with GO! GO! ACKMAN, e.t.c.) will be relesed first. Among other reasons, this is because you frequently wished for it.

Oh wow, that's really cool for the German fans. I wonder what the chances are for Viz to follow-up in the future with an English release?

Update: Carlsen licensed Jaco the Galactic Patrolman and Cowa! in Germany :D
Both will be released as part of the Toriyama Short Stories series, just like Neko Majin.
