Who is the artist of these images?

Post by IgnorantFuniFan » Mon Apr 28, 2014 4:03 pm

This is my first topic post on the site so if I'm doing anything wrong please tell me!

I have been on a wild goose chase trying to figure out the artist who is responsible for these images:

http://www.oocities.org/vegetta49goku/D ... uall06.jpg
http://www.oocities.org/vegetta49goku/D ... ssj304.jpg

I believe these images are done by the same artist, and I think it may be old work of Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, but I could be completely wrong. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Doesn't look like Nakatsuru to me, but beyond that I'm stumped.

The first one has some pretty thick and clunky line art. To me, it looks like a fan work.

As for the latter two, they look like 1990's promotional artwork. I'm not sure who the artist is, but I've definitely seen the last image before.

They look like they're from 3 different artists. The first one I'm guessing is fan work, the second is from the 90's, I used to have a wall scroll of it, and the third one looks more recent, from the 2000's.

The first one is a fan piece, but it's based off a real image:

These were all drawn by the same unknown artist who was in charge of artwork for merchandising in the '90s. As TheDevilsCorpse stated, the first image is a digitally traced version of an official piece.

Yeah I just couldn't find the original. Whoever did them has to be credited somewhere though

So no one even knows who drew the first image? I always liked the style of the 90's promotional art.
This is the episode of when Gokuh enrages himself after Freezer talk shit about Kuririn

They strike me as very similar to Shindo's style if a little bit less angular. But I don't know for sure.

Same here. He did so much promotional work back then that it's implausible that he was never credited. Unless he's listed in any of the end credits of movies or games

I guess my question now is, is this supposedly unknown 90s promotional artist credited anywhere? And of so, who is he?

I know this is sort of off topic but I was curious.

How much did the average episode of DBZ cost to make?

I'm not sure what it was back in the 80's and 90's, but now it costs roughly $100,000 to make one episode.

Same. And so many old character shrines from the early years of the internets were loaded with these images. Ahhhh, nostalgia :D

Weel, I guess I'm gonna use this topic here and make another question:

Who is the artist behind THESE images?
[spoiler]Image

I consider him one of the bests responsible for these promotional arts, but I never could identify him in the anime itself.
Sorry for bad english. I'm not fluent in your language, so, if you want to correct some mistake of mine, please do it. I'll be grateful
