"Dragon Ball II" is the original Dragon Ball manga translated into Chinese. From what I understand these were sold in Taiwan (unsure of the circulation date) for 6元 (0.97 USD in today's Dollars)
Each volume would vary in thickness, some containing as little as two chapters, and share around the same size as a standard Manga. But each volume has distinct cover art that separated it from it's Japanese counter part.
(Covers of a few volumes)
Chapters have title pages and sound effects are left unchanged
The books are well binned and the paper quality is a little thinner than Tankōbon but thicker than the Viz 3-in-1's. Pages are also printed well and carry over most of the detail from the original source though it seems like the pages were faxed/copied during production (not much of a surprise)
When a volume run short, some other comics are thrown in to fill up the book
The last volume comes with select translated pages of DRAGON BALL 冒険 SPECIAL
Overall, the quality is not bad for what it is, and in some ways beats the 3-in-1's. The covers make them fun to collect as well!
The Manga "Dragon Ball" appeards to be from another release as it is thicker, and overlaps with other volumes of "Dragon ball II" Both seem to be from the same source:
When I receive my package (next few days) I will update this thread with another release called "Son of the Dragon" (though I am not sure if their is a relation to "Dragon Ball II")
