Seeing as its based on something Toriyama originally intended to be in the manga, it would be quite interesting to see if it actually takes place during the period he was gonna introduce it.

Goku's year on Yardrat??

With the preview image being Goku doing the teleportation technique, it seems like it could be a Yardrat storyline because isn't that where he learned that? Seems strange to step that far back after Battle of Gods. You'd think everyone would want to see all of the gang at their fullest potential as far as transformations and all that goes. We'll see! Another fun year ahead of mystery and speculation, I guess!

I share the sentiment. My hope is that this was merely for a promotional hook and Toriyama is very much so continuing with his original idea, should it not have lapsed from his memory. My hope is that Gokuu is defeated early on for the film and Vegeta takes the spotlight from there.

I think it's hilarious how much faith we're putting in Torishima's judgment. The collective sigh of relief among the community definitely made me laugh.

There are only two points in the timeline where I hope this takes place.

1.) In-between Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
2.) After "Battle Of Gods." Possibly giving Vegeta the spotlight as previously rumored (with significant side-character spotlight as well).

The thing I really latch onto in this article is "He had intended to have this story during his manga's original serialization." This makes it sound like it will take place before BoG. If this is the case it seems like wasted potential with all that setup for with "stronger guys" and "other universes" at the end of BoG. Also, Jaco and BoG were both super good, but Dragon Ball Minus was so bad, I get nervous about Toriyama doing too much inconsistent retcon weirdness.

I know that we would get info on the next DBZ movie soon since BOG info started to pop up around July 2012 from what I can remember.

I don't think we know yet if it's a sequel or not to BOG. Goku is likely shown on the image as a promotion thing to get people hype. He's the main character of the franchise, so he's going to be the main face of everything DB related (expect for anything related to Bardock of course).

I just realized that Toriyama hasn't even finished his initial character designs yet. Looks like the animation will be rushed again if this is supposed to be released in later April or early May.

An in-between DB and Z movie would absolutely thrill me. :3 I adore the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai era cast. If I can't have a sequel to BOG, I'd so go for a DB movie from in-between DB and Z.
