How well does a movie like Avengers even do in Japan?
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Actually, very well. Marvel's superhero licenses do really well with Japanese audiences, apparently. DC's, on the other hand...fadeddreams5 wrote:How well does a movie like Avengers even do in Japan?

A theatrical release here? I highly doubt it.Friezacooler wrote:Portugal 31 December 2015

Unfortunately, yes. I doubt the team would even want to dub it in the first place, which would just mean we'd have a subbed version, and I doubt many would go to the theaters watch a subbed version.Luso Saiyan wrote:A theatrical release here? Yeah, those look more like placeholder dates too me.
So anyway, having rewatched the trailer again for the 100th or so time (have it as my phones background/wallpaper) I am deffo getting the despair vibe that was initially teased, especially that end scene in the trailer with Goku's scream, powerful stuff.

Revival of F comes out the same day as the new Detective Conan movie and a day after Furious 7 so it definitely has more competition than Battle of Gods.
In 2003 the Detective Conan movie outgrossed Battle of Gods so Revival of F might not even be #1 on opening whereas Batte of Gods was #1 for 3 weeks running.
It might have a better opening than Battle of Gods though due to it opening on Golden Week.

I'm guessing it's an inside joke dating back quite a few years, no?

Atleast you guys got BoG dubbed. 90s dub quality aside, you had the chance to experience the actors re-united for a new Dragon Ball production. We? We have fan-subs.Kakarot9001 wrote: I would! But in Brazil, for sure. Don't mind me but the portuguese dub kinda sucks
If that list is true, it can very well mean a distributor might be thnking of getting a studio to dub it, otherwise it wouldn't even get a mention like BoG.Doctor. wrote:Unfortunately, yes. It is, unfortunately Youtube has also taken down any "serious" clips of the dub.Kakarot9001 wrote:Not really, but I'm curious is that the real portuguese dub?Doctor. wrote:I'm guessing it's an inside joke dating back quite a few years, no?

Ugh, nevermind, wrong thread. Ignore my post above.
In regards to your comment, I'm well aware that the portuguese dub is anything but faithful but I, and many others I'm sure, would pay to hear it once more.

Yeah, that was something pretty cool by the dub here in Brazil but in the DVD release, because of legal issues they changed some voices, including Goku! I heard once from a portuguese friend that they intended to do DBZ sounds more silly than serious, I always though was a joke or something else

At least you guys got the DVD uncut version. We? We have another cast of voice actors and it is not the over-100 minutes long.Quebaz wrote:Atleast you guys got BoG dubbed. 90s dub quality aside, you had the chance to experience the actors re-united for a new Dragon Ball production. Not even that. No DVD release, no TV-only airing by some paid TV channel, not even a mention from any dubbing team/channel ever. It's like they don't even know it exists. MEANWHILE DB Movie 2 is getting a re-aring this month, now that's some great news for us Portuguese fans.Dyno wrote:Quebaz wrote: At least you guys got the DVD uncut version. We? Indeed it is a great news. Because I heard Cartoon Network will re-air Movie 8... That is totally a disgraceful thing to hear about.Quebaz wrote:MEANWHILE DB Movie 2 is getting a re-aring this month, now that's some great news for us Portuguese fans.

It is the worst movie of all, along with Movie 10 and Movie 11, with the worst character/antagonist I have ever seen belonging to Dragon Ball franchise.Kamiccolo9 wrote:.....Why?
