Agreed, it also doesn't help that Toei frequently messed up animating the lightning which only caused further confusion. To this day many think that Vegeta was a regular Super Saiyan when he fought against Kid Buu going simply by the anime.

I think I would've liked if SSJ2 was Kid Gohan exclusive. I like it better as just ''Gohan's rage'' instead of just a standard Saiyan transformation. I also feel SSJ2's relevance was too short lived. SSJ2 was really only useful when Gohan used it to stomp Cell, but as soon as the next arc rolls around, not only does Goku and Vegeta have SSJ2 now, but it's a worthless transformation since Buu could take on a whole army of Super Saiyan 2s, and the transformation is quickly out done by SSJ3. Goku always has to steal the spot light

Gohan was a Super Saiyan 2 against Broly in Movie 10?

Maybe. Because I talked many other that said that he was only SSJ against him because the lack of lighting.

In the manga there was no sparks for Gohan meaning he's not a SSJ2 against Dabura. It's very inconsistent in the anime.

I've seen a picture of powerup-posed figures of Goku in various states, including Super Saiyan 2 (released in recent years). If someone can provide an image, that'd be great.

Shame that this version there are only two Super Saiyan and one Super Saiyan 3. Man, I hate how they treat the best transformation.
