Realistically it was another case of Toriyama makes the characters act stupid for the sake of drama/plot.The Monkey King wrote:I just realised Krillin really is a dickhead and awful person.
The Androids made it 100% clear that their main goal was to kill Goku, Krillin's best friend since childhood
And Krillin didn't just hesitate but flat out refused to kill #18 just because he found her pretty??
What the fuck? That decision almost doomed the entire planet if not universe.

It wasn't them acting out of character.

Krillin dooms the earth all the time in hopes to get a girlfriend, or maybe he just wanted a good fight, in bed.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
We aren't discussing the ethics of the decision. Goku let Vegeta go for the sake of a good fight, same with Piccolo. They let the cyborgs go. This isn't out of character for them. Forget the ethics of the matter.
When you say airtight, what you are saying is that it's not in character, but given who these characters' decisions, it's very logical that Kuririn would put people at risk for the sake of something like this.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I wasn't talking about the cyborgs in the first place. Never the less you can certainly argue after the Freeza arc Toriyama was reaching at times to get his plots going.
While the Buu arc is sloppier than the Cell arc, at the very least the heros were unprepared for Buu. At least until Toriyama pulled another logic be damned for the sake of Goku winning during the fight with Kid Buu.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
It's not illogical. The characters' primary goal isn't the safety of the world. It's always been to be the best martial artist they can and to challenge themselves.
This actually could be its own thread.
Does anyone know why something as egregious as Vegeta beating up Gohan and flying off in one episode only for the next episode to act like that never happened could have occurred?

Really? Like that hasn't been established about a million times. We know Goku is an unlikely hero, got it.ABED wrote:It's not illogical. The characters' primary goal isn't the safety of the world. It's always been to be the best martial artist they can and to challenge themselves.
Again, notice how Vegeta doesn't say "Now we'll see who's the strongest/best martial artist" Note how he's also clearly sweating because he is nervous.
This fight is very clearly about the fate/saving the universe.
Dragon Ball is actually a work of fiction, and you can't use the logic argument when we KNOW Toriyama changed his mind about Gohan. This is why Gohan was left behind and the cool but lacking in logic Genkidama solution was created, so Goku could get the win.
Hence, there are times in the series where the characters make dumb decisions for the sake of drama/plot.
This doesn't make it bad, but it isn't great writing either.
Dragon ball is silly, but we can look past a lot of these flaws because Toriyama IMO is a genius when it comes to finding entertaining ways to engage his fans.

Whoever runs the scouter manufacturing department in Freeza's empire should be fired for constant explosions of their products in which goes against the Product Liability Law.
But then again, would Freeza even care?

Sho Hayami's replacement for Kai is so underwhelming.

With the passing of Hiromi Tsuru, who do you think will voice Bulma in the future?
My personal pick is Umeka Shouji. Hearing her for the first time Digimon Universe: Appli Monster as Eri Karen fooled me to think it was Hiromi Tsuru doing the role but ended up surprised it was a different actress.

They'll probably get Aya Hirano to voice her since she's voiced her in Evolution.

I don't know what's so wrong about the S-cells explanation.I mean it kinda makes sense. Also what the hell is a midichlorian or whatever?

From Star Wars the prequel trilogy to be specific, basically a microscopic organism in all living things that makes some beings more force sensitive than others. Don't know why it gets hate either, the force is still a mystical thing and nothing changed that.

Their dumb, and I get people's issue with them, but their not even the biggest problem in the film, much less the whole Prequel trilogy, lol.DragonBallKing wrote: From Star Wars the prequel trilogy to be specific, basically a microscopic organism in all living things that makes some beings more force sensitive than others. What exactly is "dumb" about it? It doesn't change the force at all. As far as I'm concerned Midichloreans are the least of the prequels problems, still love ROTS though.Soppa Saia People wrote:Their dumb, and I get people's issue with them, but their not even the biggest problem in the film, much less the whole Prequel trilogy, lol.DragonBallKing wrote: From Star Wars the prequel trilogy to be specific, basically a microscopic organism in all living things that makes some beings more force sensitive than others. I think making the force something that is kinda rooted in you genetic makeup is kinda dumb, but I haven't watched PM in like 7 years, so I may be mistaken.DragonBallKing wrote:What exactly is "dumb" about it? ROTS has some legit good stuff, but it's bad stuff is the worse of the PT. Where as PM is just mediocre through out.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
It's just like real life though, some people have better genetics than others but those with average genetics can still rise to the top with enough hard work and dedication like with Goku(Poor genetics+hard work) vs Vegeta( Elite genetics). Lacking a high midichlorean count does not mean a person is incapable of using the force, they just need to work harder.Soppa Saia People wrote:I think making the force something that is kinda rooted in you genetic makeup is kinda dumb, but I haven't watched PM in like 7 years, so I may be mistaken.DragonBallKing wrote:What exactly is "dumb" about it? I havn't seen The Last Jedi yet so (no spoilers pls), but I personally did not like TFA because It felt like it was trying rely on nostalgia with too many rehashes. Maybe TLJ will change my mind but we will see.
