Has your addiction to the franchise ever NEGATIVELY affected you?

Post by Bagginses » Fri Sep 23, 2016 8:52 pm

I probably know this is not the most fun topic to throw around, but I wanted to ask anyone here if your ''vice'' for the DB series has at any time in your life somehow negatively affected it? We as sort of geeks/nerds are always inclined to things like this, but we have to look out before the obsession goes too far. For example, my grades dropped a lot in the 8th grade because I used to watch too much Dragonball per day.

So what is your limit? (hope the aim of this OP is clear enough)

Interesting topic, but I don't think so for me. Other than I annoy my brother when I talk about it, and I don't actually know much of anyone who likes it.

Nope, the series didn't affect me in a negative way and I hope it never does.

By the way, I'd like to say I found this topic interesting.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted but if I'm negatively affected by anyone it's the lack of people to talk to. I don't have many friends who like Dragon Ball but I'm really glad I'm on here so I can talk about it.

Dragon Ball? Never. Kanzenshuu? Yes, I spend too much time in the forum, whether it be lurking and reading threads or posting on them.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

No way. Dragon Ball got me working on getting back into shape after I stopped playing football (that's soccer in America). Dragon Ball got me several new friends, both in real life and on the internet (one of which died only a few days before Super's first episode. He was looking forward to it so much, too. Miss you, buddy). I've been as much of a Dragon Ball geek as I can be for the last two-three years now and shit's never been better for me.

No. I love Dragon Ball but not to the extent where it would have an existential effect on my personality, finances, personal life etc.

No. I like Dragon Ball, but I only read the manga when the Internet goes out and the last time I watched the anime, it was July. Dragon Ball isn't a hobbie for me any more, it's just something I like.

I've lost sleep and procrastinated on college projects by working on DB related fandubs and maybe set myself back a bit financially by buying merchandise, though to be honest Power Rangers and Yugioh have done worse to my wallet. Other than that, not really.

By the way, I edited the inital post to say 8th grade and not 7th grade. I made a mistake. :P

Its not trolling its an innocent joke. Because if not, nobody is going to say anything interesting.

Are you implying my thread isn't interesting? Well, if so, there are a couple here who disagree with you, apparently. :D

Not directly.
I mean, I was really living the hype, when internet was 250k and I created a fanzine.
But what I found was my inner dark side. Killing dreams for the pleasure of.

You know, there was guys in my city that did everyday cospa, going to school or comic shops in orange suits (stolen by social services), with blue belts. Or people dressing as Trunks, with small jackets and similar stuff.

Everyday, you could end with a dialogue like that
Impersonator:-If I'll enrage beyond the limits, I could shoot fireballs from my hands.
Me:-No way kiddo.
Imp.:-I'll train hard and hard!
Me:-No way.
Imp.: But I mean: very harder!
Me:-Despite this fact is against nature, maybe moral and surely religion, you know how much calories you need to create a fire?
Imp.(very very very sad):-So... that's mean I cannot shoot fire from my hands?
Me: -Not much as you can fly.
Imp: -Don't joke on me! FLYING IS IMPOSSIBLE!

How much I hated those guys.
I learned english listening to songs. So I don't know anything about. The day you had to learn play piano by just listening .mp3, you'll understand.

Financially.

There's a few purchases that I made when I had some disposable income that I now regret.

There isn't a huge market for Daizenshuu 1-10 here in Australia :(.

I once punched a kid square in the face in elementary school while pretending to be Majin Vegeta. True story.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
