How did you watch porn and not know what it was, assuming you saw two humans having sex? What did you think was happening?

Considering most of the sex jokes (which occur more often in the earlier parts of the series) and often violent fights scenes in both the manga and anime.....I'd say probably when you're around 13 or older. I mean, unless any Dragon Ball anime finds itself on kid's networks again with some edits, Dragon Ball isn't exactly a series I'd let a little kid watch, IMO

I remember some kid in the 3rd grade watch a porn before and described it to other kids at the lunch table before. He was like "He put his dick in some hole and the lady was enjoying it!!". I knew what sex was before I took sex ed in the 5th grade since I seen movies and anime with sex scenes like A.D Police and Bio Hunter. I saw my first Hentai when I was 11 when my friend and I watch LA Blue Girl from his brother's VHS collection.

Whether a young kid should or shouldn't be able to watch Dragon Ball is debatable. But one thing we can all agree on is that the parents are the ones that should decide if they find the show appropriate for their children or not. It's really up to them.

Dbz(uncensored) is airing on Mexico's Canal 5 at 8:30p.m., which target audience is kids and teens. So any kid as young as 4 can watch Dbz. Not trying to make a point or anything. Just wanted to share this.

No, it's serious. Why would this be a joke?
Well it was April Fools yesterday and some of the replies gave me the impression that maybe it wasn't a serious question.
Yeah it's supposed to be serious but everyone seems bent on posting silly answers for some reason.

Speaking only for myself, my initial answers were silly because:

1) It was April Fools' Day, and

2) This question gets asked frequently, and the answer is always the same. It's a kids' series. I think most kids are going to be able to handle its content at any age provided they have parental guidance.

I personally wouldn't have an issue with showing the series to any child regardless of age, so long as they have a basic understanding of life and death so they can digest some of the later dramatic moments. Some kids are going to be more sensitive about that kind of stuff than others. That would be the biggest concern for me. The sexual content early on is either going to go over their heads (most of Kame-Sennin's antics), or isn't objectionable in the first place (nudity).

I think around 7-8 years old is fine. That's the age when a lot of people first got into the franchise, albeit it was the edited dub so things were censored. Even then as a kid (I think I was 12 when I first saw the Saiyan saga on TV), I could still tell people were dying and being killed, despite the "next dimension" nonsense.

About as soon as a child can understand basic storytelling.

It depends on which part of the world you're in and how edited the show is. Back in the '90s and 00's, the most common English version Funimation was offering were the edited versions for TV. In more recent years, the uncut versions are what's being offered on DVD/BD and on streaming platforms.

The original DB may be acceptable for 5 year-olds in Japan, but American children probably shouldn't be watching the uncut version until they're 13 or 14. Especially the early episodes with the lewd humor. The Z series may have been fine for 10 year olds in Japan, but the level of violence gets pretty heavy to the point where maybe it would be more suitable for teens.

On the other hand, the Kai and post-Kai stuff seems tremendously toned down in regards to violent/sexual content compared to the earlier series. That may be a better starting point for younger audiences (atleast in the US).

This goes to the heart of the matter. Kids in Japan aren't different from America. America is more puritanical in its views on sex and that's the big problem. Either they can handle the sexual humor or it will go over their head. Same with violence. I first saw The Terminator which had both violence and a sex scene when I was 3 or 4.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

An adult. You can never be old enough to understand and appreciate Dragon Ball[/i, but being an adult with more than two decades of experience consuming media and art will be a start.

This is what I don't get. What makes Japanese and American kids any different when they are all human children. Why is it okay for someone in in Japan at 5 years old watching DB, but wrong in the US? People in American need to stop trying shelter their kids with blood and nudity. Not to mention the violence in DBZ is not much different than what you can find in PG and PG-13 movies. The series is between PG and PG-13, not R rated like Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, The Guyver, Akira and Devilman.

Most people saw DBZ on Toonami around the ages of 5-12 in the US, so the violence is not that big of a deal for a 10 year old. Sure DBZ was heavily edited on TV, but DBZ uncut is TV PG and not TV-14.

As others have said, it depends on the child. I know I could handle the violence and sex in movies like Basic Instinct and A Nightmare on Elm Street when I was 5-6 (they were my favorites haha) but my current roommate can't even handle something toothless like the 2008 Prom Night remake. Parents know their kids, its all relative.

I know I liked DBZ when I was real little because it was a bit more challenging (and I stress *a bit*, its not like Avatar: The Last Airbender with interesting character development, internal struggles, and themes) than a lot of the other kids shows. I did get emotionally worked up when Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo were killed in the Saiyan Saga, but I loved that the show was able to get that reaction out of me and made me all the more invested.

This thread is GOLDEN.

As for me, started watching uncut at 5. Didn't understand a single sex joke and just enjoyed the cool fast animation. I liked fast things as a kid for some reason. (Ironic with this shows pacing) As a kid I liked Path to Power most, ya know the movie that basically shows Bulma's unmentionables. So I don't think there is a specific age as long as a kid is either ignorant or understanding and of course this would change depending on country. But for me I'd show kids Dragon Ball around age 8-10.

It's not that American kids are less mature than Japanese kids, it's just we have different standards of what's acceptable and what isn't. I'm not really sure why we have this difference but it is important to take into account.

When my daughter understands that she can watch someone kick and punch each other without doing it herself. When she understands it can hurt others.

There's no set general age for that. It will vary from kid to kid.

As far as sexual content goes, I don't care one bit. She's 3,5 and I encourage her to touch and explore herself. I do forbid her to watch Dragon Ball though, because until now, the violence has affected her negatively.

18+ Only MATURE adults can handle such content like boobs getting grabbed or the intense blood and gore. Dee Bee Zee is way to hardcore for little babies to watch. I mean, have you seen the Vegeta/Bulma sex scene?!
