Well it would certainly explain how his voice changed so much between Z and Kai, especially compared to Kusao, Furukawa, and Furuya whose voices have aged hardly at all in 20+ years.

I didn't think anything of it at the time, but this would explain why Greg Ayres is playing Frost in Super, wouldn't it? I figured it was just to have Frost and Freeza sound slightly different, but it may just have been because Chris wasn't well?

I'm glad he's getting much more money than expected, I've heard nothing but good things about him and C.O.P.D is a horrible illness to be afflicted with. I can't even begin to imagine what he's going through.

Yeah, you can hear the rasp in the Kai one. Although, I'm not sure how much of his voice change can be attributed to smoking and how much can be attributed to age.

I think the slight raspiness adds a bit to the character, but on the other hand I am far, far more familiar with Sabat's Vegeta so that's likely biased.

Unfortunately I can't donate, but I hope the guy gets better.

Very pleased for Chris and all his friends and family (that must be so relieved). Wishing him luck on his recovery.

Harder to kill than Freeza-sama himself, like a boss.

Well, it IS the Yamamoto soundtrack.

On-topic, I'm glad Mr. Ayres' first surgery was a success. Here's hoping that the next ones go well, too!

Hope we can hear him as Freeza again some day. But is it realistic for someone to recover from from the operation he needs, to the point they can do something like act again?

Even if his double bypass and double lung transplant go perfectly his life expectancy will only be about 3 years, so even if he gets well and comes back to voice acting he likely won't be acting for long.
Sorry to be a downer.
3 years? Do you have a source for this?

Statistics are mainly for a single lung transplant, but even a single only gives the person a 50/50 shot of living another 5 years.
