To be fair, Guy was only a member for a short time on, was it Justice League International? Yeah. Still not sure if that's remained in canon with Rebirth in DC. He was a Red Lantern for a while though, along with Supergirl. Though Supergirl has since been turned into the high school version of her CW self.

Anyway, yeah. Even when working with people he's known for years, if not most of his life, Goku isn't exactly known as the best team player. And wants his opponents to get as strong as possible.

That's why I said Gohan or Future Trunks would fit MUCH better in such a thing.

Goku would fit better on the Avengers, because they're full of egotistical people who like to fight just for fighting's sake and to show off.
The Avengers are still actively out to protect the world. They aren't warriors trying to test their strength. If they had advanced warning of killer robots, they would be trying to stop them.
They have had some real jerks as members, though.
Jerks, but still superheroes.

A lot of them didn't even become superheroes until joining. For example, before Hawkeye joined, he was known as a villain. It was essentially a reform program for him.

Sure, but their goals changed when they were recruited. Goku's PRIMARY goal wasn't to save the world, it's to fight stronger and stronger opponents. This isn't about whether they are jerks or not. Goku doesn't belong on a team of superheroes because his PRIMARY goal will not be about saving the world. It's unfortunate that I have to keep using the word primary, but there are those that think that because he has saved the world that it is his mission.

Hawkeye's primary goal was to get famous and be known as a hero.

Vision didn't have a goal at first and he just joined because he had nowhere else to go.

The Hulk only reluctantly agreed to join because he wanted friends, but he quit soon after

Moondragon thought she knew what was best for everyone on Earth and joined to try to enforce it on them

The Falcon joined because the government mandated that they have another black guy, and he was really annoyed about that

Starfox joined just because he thought it would be fun.

There are many more examples.

THat's their goal when they start, but ultimately what makes them a hero is that they stay and are there to protect the innocent. Goku isn't a superhero. He wouldn't stay on that team because he's not out to monitor threats. Banner stays on the team because he believes in the cause. Goku's goal will not be about stopping threats to the world except as they intersect with his goal.

Are you trying to say Goku WOULD join The Avengers?

He'd probably stay for Jarvis' cooking. (For those who don't read comics, Jarvis is the Avengers' butler, and the second most famous butler in comics). And Chi-Chi wouldn't mind staying in the mansion.

Still, you can see Goku along with other anime heroes reenacting the Justice League intro albeit in different ways to their abilities. Hell, have wanted to do something like that with cosplayers for years. (Damn, that intro is still so awesome!)

Back on topic, with the stuff with Future Trunks, you can compare it sort of to the "Days of Future Past" storyline of the X-Men. In that the time travelers' future world didn't change, the present didn't go down the path to that horrible future. Though in the X-Men's case, there were still wonderings if later things could cause it to happen a la Terminator at times.

For the chance to fight people like Thanos, rogue Hulk, and other strong people? In a heart beat.

I find most comic stories overrated. For like 20 years I heard "The Killing Joke" was one of the best Batman comics ever written. Back in 2016 I read it for the first time and thought it was meh.

Then I heard "The Dark Knight" was one of the best comics, the one with the alternate reality Batman with the girl Robin in the future. It was also meh. Most modern comics are a mess.

I think most of this stuff is overrated by people who grew up reading it, and don't work for new readers.

That doesn't require him joining a team.

No, but if it meant a chance to fight such strong people though? Then, yeah. Goku would probably look to join. At least as a partial member.

Only when it fits his agenda, just like he often helps people that he encounters. He's not against it, he doesn't even try to avoid it, but helping people isn't his fundamental drive. And unlike many of the Marvel heroes mentioned, that's not some first step in an arc to becoming a full blown superhero. He won't change.
Then I heard "The Dark Knight" was one of the best comics, the one with the alternate reality Batman with the girl Robin in the future. It was also meh. Most modern comics are a mess.
That can also come down to expectations. Often times classics can fall short of what we expect them to be, but I find that if you rewatch or reread something, they often become better.
