I just hope a trailer doesn't take too long to be out, I expect it in the middle of the year or so. Only then we will have a better idea of what the movie will actually cover.
We help! ... Hmm. Always get Autobots out of messes they get into.

The average length of a DB movie used to be about 50 minutes, but now it's a little over 90. Why the change?

The market changed. Disney movies used to be shorter too, nowadays majority of theatrical animations are 80-90 mins long

Anime movie length in general increased. DB is playing catch-up.

Just do what I do, skim through the posts and skip every other page until something of interest pops up. Most of the time you're only missing pointless/off-topic bickering or constant retreading of the same topics.

Hey guys! Super excited for the 20th film. I'm not sure if someone has done this already but I compiled all of the posters showcased on http://www.dbmovie-20th.com in this album: https://imgur.com/a/XB5C5

Fair enough. I hadn't thought of the Disney example, but DB movies are now twice the length they used to be. I don't think it's necessarily for the better.

Then again, they used to pump out 2 DBZ movies per year back in the 90s... could hardly call them a 'franchise celebratory events', more like big-screen extended ads for the series. BOG/ROF, One Piece films are a different caliber of releases

I was referring to the quality of the movie, but fair point. A number of the movies just feel longer, not better.

Yea, same thing I did with the announcement and ROF threads when I first joined. Just skim through pages until something catches your eye.

It also helps that there trying to tell a story like an actual, er, movie. Even ROF did, as flawed as it was. Most prior films were 50 minute fight set peaces.

Not even that, old DBZ movies were more like specials then movies.

Back then we'd get one movie per year up until dead zone then two starting from Z's second movie. Now we're having to wait 3+ years just for one so the least they can do is make them longer.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

How about they make them better?

Huh? The all told stories, some better than others. Dead Zone has some of the best fights and animation in all of DB. It's one of the best movies because it's a simple story well executed and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Whether they're better or not is up to each person but in terms of how long they are, that's why.

I was simply pointing out that adding to the running length doesn't make them better. Quality and length aren't corollaries, much less causal. In fact, making them longer often makes them worse because pacing is sacrificed.

Greater running time isn't a good trade off for longer time between releases.

No that post is a joke. I'm pretty sure that's a click bating thumbnail from one of those Spanish YouTube channels.

Definitely looks like it. Kind of reminded me of those Spanish channels that used to display things like SSJ7-10 and such.
