Most certainly. No one would be able to bear one year of that saga, people were complaining that Toyotaro was dragging Future Trunks saga (myself included), people and I would riot if Toei dragged Universe Survival saga until the end of 2018.

Not quite. Since there are three continuities to follow, I choose Toriyama's one when it comes to the earliest part.

Toriyama who came with the idea of the retellings in the first place, the movies are labelled was 'Dragon Ball Z' not 'Super', so it's not really the same.

Can this title be changed to "Official On-Going DBZ 2018 Movie Thread"? It fits in with the other two titles from Jacob's other threads for BoG and Ro'F'.

I would wait a little longer, but... No particular reason to maintain it like that. So yeah, just to fit the other two threads... It's done. Gotta say, I'm very happy I got to be the one who created the next movie thread.

Anyways, I was skimming through those threads, and I noticed a lot of people there hasn't appeared here yet. I wonder why.

Lol, it's funny how Jacob already made a movie thread as he did the others, but the thread was locked because the movie wasn't officially confirmed yet.

I said it before this was announced but if they're smart, they'll time the release of this movie so that it falls between two sagas.

So from a real life timeline perspective.

- You'd have a canon saga end at the end of November.

- Then there'd be some filler in December and the movie. Maybe an episode that leads up to this movie.

- Then a time skip which leads to the new canon saga in January or February.

There's no filler in Super. The anime itself is not adapted from a manga, don't know why people insist on that.

One Piece has done this with its newer movies so they could do a 3-4 episode special.

Okay folks, let's try looking at the potential positives.

How can we get another Battle of Gods, qualitatively speaking, whilst sticking to the main premise of the origins of the Saiyans' strength?

For me, all that this movie needs to have quality is that it introduces content (like Movie 14). It delving into Saiyans lore properly, answering questions and showing stuff are all I ask for. If it brings content, it's already an epic movie.

Agreed, there are good elements from Minus that I would welcome.

If we're going to go with armor toddler Goku, Toriyama should make the definitive version of how he hit his head. Have Jaco be chasing him and Goku falls and Jaco just figures he's dead and leaves, lol. He wanted to go grab a galactic doughnut anyway, not the Gotenks kind, the ones patrolmen eat.

That's would imply Toriyama knows that's there's folks in the Dragon Ball fanbase that hate Minus. :p

You know, I hope that, if the movie DOES indeed involve Goku, it also at least brings up Bulma.

Bulma was the first friend that Goku ever had, a bond that would lay the foundation for many more, ultimately culminating in his first transformation into the legendary Super Saiyan. With Toriyama's comments about the Super Saiyan legend with Yamoshi and the like, having Goku befriending Bulma be the prime example of what being a gentle spirit will do to seed the potential for the power of the Saiyans would be a good move, especially if done to pay respects to Hiromi Tsuru.

She's also instrumental to Vegeta's growth in power and righteousness.

I'll most likely update it only with the trailer and any major information that I find it interesting and worth to note (like, "Gine is going to appear! BOOYAH!" ).

Oh, goodie. Another crapfest in the mold of RoF.

I know, I know. I'll try to reserve judgement until the actual movie drops. But Toriyama writing the script does not exactly inspire confidence in me. He just doesn't have it anymore, imo. I wish Toyotaro would take over already.
