All I'm saying is... there were probably much more creative ways that could have had Broly been defeated instead of Goku just gaining power from his friends and then automatically having the upper hand and that going with this formula (like they do in most of the movies) is a bit lazy.

I'm not saying the movie is bad... it's just a concern I have.

All the Z warriors were K.O. too, there weren't many ways to defeat him...

IMO Broly represents the casual American fan who watched DBZ as a kid and thinks the rest of anime is tentacle porn.

Goku wanting nothing more than to fight isn't remotely new.
It's not, but he also used to have some brains and a focused, serious side, all of which are nearly undetectable in Super under the meme version of him that apparently both Toriyama, Toei and a big section of the fanbase seem to love.

I do think that while Goku has a desire to fight more than anything else... his less serious side is being flanderized in the show.

He seemed to show more intelligence in the original run (even if not by a lot).

I'm not sure why he's even like this in Super.

I think Broly, like most of the movie villains, represents a very superficial idea of what a very casual fan views Dragon Ball to be. I feel the same way about GT.

Toriyama had a very simplistic charm to him. His villains weren't designed to be "badass". It was a green demon/slug looking thing. A short red haired man. A short Saiyan who didn't look overly muscular who led a much larger ferocious looking man. A short chameleon alien tyrant who gets bigger with each form until his last form is a even smaller and sleeker and less threatening and busy looking. An evil bug monster who gets more and more humanoid with each power up. A pink bubblegum monster who like Freeza goes from unassuming to more threatening with each transformation until his last one is an out of control childlike form. Even Beerus is just a skinny cat god.

Notice how all the movies just have big muscular looking monster who are designed to be threatening? Cooler goes from something similar to his brothers sleek form to some sort of giant busier design with like a mask thing. Garlic Jr turns into a bigger monster. Android 13 turns into a giant muscular blue dude with bright orange hair. Bojack similarly gets jacked up.

Every character represents a bit of what Dragon Ball is.
