WOW! And we still cant fucking get One Piece redubbed. Mexico embraced DB the most out of many countries.

This forum is so over-dramatic that it's not even funny.

I love it when big Dragon Ball fights get this level of event-marketing. The buildup to the one-hour special was crazy, it was blowing up social media, you had Funimation hosting pre-shows in the west, all this nonsense. Thank god the special was good, otherwise it would've been embarrassing. Especially considering we knew nothing about Jiren or Goku's new form, the fact that they were able to generate that level hype speaks to the popularity of Dragon Ball and the ruthless power of it's marketing machine.

It feels like only a recent thing given the original series didn't come out through the age of social media. I kind of hope it does continue for post-Super Dragon Ball stuff. Some may find it cringe-worthy, I think it's fun to see people getting into it. Especially in Latin America, where I can totally imagine these events packing seats.

Broadcast live? that is going to be one hell of a strain on the animators wrists.

Seems ridiculous to me, but I can see why since many adult Latin Americans (myself included) from today grew up watching Dragon Ball (and Saint Seiya) many years ago.

Imagine the episode comes out and it's full of brand new animation for the peanut gallery, who will once again take up most of the episode's running time, while the fighting sequences will be packed with reused animation only and last three minutes at most.

This is truly crazy. I wonder how bigger Dragon Ball would be if Toei were able to put out simuldubs of it. With some great planning and organization I think they could be able to do simultaneous releases of dubbed Dragon Ball in North and South America.
I don't know if that would ever be possible or not, but simul-dubs would make Dragon Ball's popularity skyrocket in my opinion.

Mexico was one of the countries that embraced Dragon Ball and still does but doesn't mean it's exactly the highest on the top.

It's possible that football team used that hashtag to gain popularity because who in the world knows who Mineros FC Zacatecas is? Besides folks in Mexico, likely not too many other people.

No one would ever translate so many fan comments. Google Translate gives an idea about what they are saying. It seems like the sentiment in Japan isn't much different than what we can read on western forums, although it's clear the fans over there acknowledge just how much more popular Dragon Ball is overseas. There are the occasional comments about how Toriyama is making the story boring and how much the animation sucks. Nothing new, I see the same type of comments everyday on english-speaking boards.

On YouTube there's a video of Episode 129 being shown in a bar in Mexico with everyone watching and cheering.

It was also on the news on TV.

I can't comprehend why? It's just an anime, and even then it's just a single 22 minute ep and not a movie.

Why on earth would an entire country get hyped over this? Even Japan isn't doing this.
