Ep 130 and new movie: Animation expectation
So we all saw what happened. Extreme fluid movements, top class artwork and all around spectacular animation.
Is this supposed to be normal for the new art style promoted for the new movie?

You're thinking of style over substance. A good show can't just rely on its animation but its story, character development, comedy, drama, quality music and so on which DBS lacks a lot of.
One Punch Man is a solid example of how a quality anime series is done. I can't wait for Season 2.

If today's episode is the work of their best staff in 2 weeks then that's what we should expect from the movie as that'll have nealy a year of work put into it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

This episode probably had 8+ weeks of production.sintzu wrote:If today's episode is the work of their best staff in 2 weeks then that's what we should expect from the movie as that'll have nealy a year of work put into it.
Re: Ep 130 and new movie: Animation expectation
The movie will likely look much better since it has good staff with more time. The last two movies have had such bad staff that it's not surprising that one good episode of the television series was able to outshine them.

As for the topic, yeah I imagine the movie is gonna have animation comparable to 130, maybe even better since they probably will have some other great animators from One Piece, PreCure, etc work on the movie.

Keep your expectations low for One Punch Man season 2. It's not going to be animated by Madhouse.
The world is your's.

Yeah I don't know why we should expect to be at that level. I don't know much about the animation staff as others in this forum, but it sounds like the guys behind 130 have always been around at Toei. They've always been around and BoG and RoF had about a year of development (probably way less), yet those movies don't look anything like what we saw in 130.
I think that considering the One Piece guy is in charge of the movie, it will actually end up looking way different than 130.

Neither was the first season. Series Director Natsume Shingo and Character Designer & Chief Animation Supervisor Kubota Chikashi are freelancers. All of the great animation was provided by their friends, other freelance animators or in the case of the un-credited Nakamura Yutaka, an animator from Bones. Even though Season Two is being produced at a different studio Kubota is still the character designer and likely to ask his friends to help on the series so long as the production schedule is long enough.tinlunlau wrote:SuperCyan2 wrote:You're thinking of style over substance. RF in particular having good key animators on paper goes to show how important SB, and supervision really is. RF had so much potential...JulieYBM wrote:The movie will likely look much better since it has good staff with more time.
