Every Episode Of Dragon Ball Reviewed in 10 Words Or Less

Post by Lord Beerus » Sun Jun 03, 2018 9:37 pm

Since a lot of people on YouTube do the whole "10 Words Or Less" deal, in regards to summarizing episodes of TV show or movies, I thought, given that I have every episode of the all of the Dragon Ball anime's still fresh in my mind from a binge-watch I've done with Dragon Ball, Z, GT and Super in the last few months, why not give it a whirl just for shits and giggles?

Unfortunately, this won't be a video because I'm too lazy to make one. Instead, it'll just be a lot of text. Sorry. :shifty:

I wouldn't even call anything, in regards to the summarization of the episodes, as really a "review". Because some of the "reviews" are nothing more than just be a quirky or snarky remarks regarding certain episodes. Each sentence will also be accompanied by an image(s) and/or clip(s) that I feel is representative of the episode's content.

My brief feeling of the episodes, as well as the arcs in general, will be mostly the same from when I delved into them with greater detail in the past. With any difference being fairly minuscule.

But the changes I feel should be noted are the following:
- I'm grouping everything that happens on Namek and with the cast fighting Freeza under one arc. The same is being done with the Red Ribbon Army arc and Uranai Baba, as I feel the Uranai Baba portion of the story are more of a continuation from the exploits of Red Ribbon Army arc given it provide the resolution for the plot point responsible for the Red Ribbon Army arc even happening the way it does in the first point. (Goku bringing back to life Upa's father.)
- The Black-Star Dragon Ball arc will range from Episode 1-23, as supposed to 1-16, as I've done in the past. The reason for this is the same as the above. The resolution for that arc only happened when the final the Black-Star Dragon Ball was found, which was later in the story in Episode 23.

Either way, it will at least be less typo ridden like the short essay length spiels I've produced with my "Personal Assessments" of the animes.I hope.

I guess you can consider this a precursor before I tackle the DB/Z movies and TV specials.

Let's rock... the dragon. (I'm sorry. I can't help doing that.)

I'll post my arc "reviews" a bit later but I just want to say how amazed I am at the amount of effort you put into this, truly an amazing topic.

I enjoyed this very much, and I also despise that awful artstyle from Z and GT that ruined so many good episodes, Seiko Uchiyama is to blame IIRC

I'm surprised you think Copy-Vegeta arc is better than BoG, RoF, Garlic Jr or Super 17 arcs. Not to mention Shadow Dragons.
For me, that was the worst "saga" DB ever had. None of episodes deserved more than 1/10 except maybe Pan episode that was a bit better (i also just like Pan).
Episode 49: This. Was. A. Drag. - 2.5/10
Episode 51: This arc is turning to into "Monster Of The Week". - 4/10
Honestly, those were one of the best GT episodes to me.
The first dragons are heavily underrated. Except Rage/5-star dragon of course. He sucks lol.
Episode 53: What the fuck was this? - 0/10
I am not sure what was so wrong with that episode except for not looking good? I mean 0/10? Wow. I actually like how Goku defeated this dragon by faking his defeat and how brutally he killed him

Episode 53 suffers from the same issues as Episode 50... horrible writing, horrible animation and horrible antagonist.

I think it was still leagues above EP50 and especially EP10. It was also pretty dark episode. I remember being scared of Naturon as a child.

Pilaf arc : A fun introduction to the dragon world and its characters.

21st Tenkaichi arc : A great tournament that showed DB's potential.

Red Ribbon Army arc : An underrated adventure that has the best world building.

22nd Tenkaichi arc : An improvement over the 1st tournament in every way.

King Piccolo arc : A surprising turning point for the story into serious territory.

23rd Tenkaichi arc : Amazing results for the risk of growing up Goku.

Saiyan arc : One of the best timeskip arcs in anime.

Namek arc : Everything DB's known for is in full force here.

Android arc : An epic, yet convoluted story.

Majin Buu arc : A satisfying conclusion to Toriyama's original story.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

This must have taken a whole lotta effort to do. Good shit. One of the things I really agree with you on is episode 15 of DBGT (desert episode). When I first watched GT in Japanese 2 years ago, that episode really stood out from the early bunch. It’s really well directed and looks beautiful. The music placement and narrative were also good. Glad to see more people praise this episode.
