Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

If you are refering to my post in this thread then it was actually a joke refering to this guy. I just couldn't resist when i saw his post and I laughed loud reading that.
I don't think any of those scenes would be in my top favourites, even from GT only. Maybe the final Revenge Death Ball would make it, i don't know.

I also started with Z but it wasn't spoiled for me cause I watched it in Japanese with no subtitles so I had no idea what anyone was saying.

I didn't know DB even existed until I was nearly done with the Buu arc. People don't know how good they have it now as anything they need is a click away.

That was probably the most surprising scene in the entire franchise for me. I didn't see it coming at all as everyone was having a good time and the arc was (supposedly) over so a main character dying during that time is the last thing you'd expect. I wish we'd get surprises like that again.
I think the closest we've got to a legitimately wonderfully shocking plot revelation was the reveal of Goku Black.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Wasn't that spoiled in Weekly Shonen Jump ? That'd be a shock for people who don't keep up with news but most of us here know everything weeks in advance thanks to them for some reason spoiling everything.

If I can only choose one moment I’d have to go with Goku’s reunion with his grandfather during the Uranai Baba arc. It was a was a genuinely touching moment in a show that up to that point was known for never taking itself seriously. It’s also notable for being one of the only times Goku cried. It was a great way to humanize him.

How does that work?
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

I didn't understand Goku telling Roshi and Krillin they couldn't fight Raditz cause both died and couldn't be brought back.
I mean how do you start with the Saiyan arc in the original Japanese? Actually, the first question is when did you start watching DBZ? I don't understand how you begin with DBZ w/o subtitles.
Another favorite of mine is Goku defeating Piccolo Daimao, yelling that he's gotten his revenge for his friend and master. It looks like he's falling to his death until his new friend, Yajirobe, catches him.

I think I started back in 2005. I didn't see the Funimation version but instead I had a friend who got a bootleg Japanese version of it so we'd always watch it whenever he got new episodes. I got into the Funimation version in 2008 after they started releasing their remastered version of it.

Alright, I gave my number 1 earlier but there are too many great moments so here are some runner-ups: (For the record I’m referring to the manga and/or the Japanese version of the anime.)
- Gohan going SS2 for the first time.
- Son Goku accidentally sees a vagina for the first time.
- Piccolo sacrifices himself for Gohan (the first time.)
- Anytime Beerus and Champa do anything.
- Nappa ditches his armor. (I’m a pervert. Deal with it.)
- Vegeta dances for Beerus.
- Vegeta briefly surpasses Son Goku’s strength In response to Beerus hitting Bulma.
- The entire Tournament of Power arc including the recruitment.
- Son Goku offers Bulma food after she tells him she’s pregnant.
- Pan’s first word is Piccoyo.
- Son Goku goes SS for the first time.
- Anytime Yajirobe does anything.
- When Toppo went shirtless. (Yup, still a pervert.)
- Kuririn vs Goku at the Tenkaichi Budokai.
- Every Dr. Slump reference.
- Goku uses his first Kamehameha to destroy Bulma’s car.
- Tenshinhan’s volley ball technique THAT HE NEVER USES AGAIN!!
Gligarman wrote:The entire Tournament of Power arc including the recruitment.
Lol one of your favorite scenes is the entire ToP arc?
Spoiler:
Super carries on much of Dragon Ball and Z's charm in ways that might not immediately be obvious, while also bringing something new to the table. I certainly can't think of any previous arcs like Goku Black, and, for all its problems, the Tournament of Power is possibly the most ambitious storytelling endeavor in series history as far as how its narrative unfolds. It's also a thrill ride, which is all I wanted and exactly what I got. Super also canonizes decades old fan theories in ways that very naturally tie into the overall fabric of Dragon Ball's world in satisfying ways. All in all, Dragon Ball, Z, and Super are all well worth experiencing.
My Top Ten Favourites
1. Vegeta's Sacrifice
2. Gohan goes SSJ2
3. Bardock facing Frieza
4. Vegeta's death in Namek
5. Goku Jr. trying to summon Shenron
6. Vegeta's speech of respecting Goku in Buu Saga
7. Future Trunks' story
8. Goku meeting his Grandpa Gohan again
9. Merged Zamasu being sliced up by Future Trunks
10. Piccolo's GT death
Oh oh, listening to the music again, Goku returning to the Land of Korin with Upa, set to The Blue Travelers. Feels like a fitting emotional cap to a very long and memorable arc.
I really like the scene wherr Mr. Satan first meets Majin Buu and freezes in fear. He has the whole Dr. Slump art style that just makes everything way better. This isn’t my favorite scene by any means, but I think it’s a really funny scene that’s not really talked about at all.
My favorite scene in the manga is probably Goku's reaction to "killing" Freeza: his shaking hand, his mixed look of disgust and sadness (maybe the single best panel in the manga), and his silently zipping away.
An absolutely stellar ending to that fight.
Also right up there: Kuririn's "seems like I'm the only one who's changed" in GT episode 64.

Also Goku beating Nappa in the saiyan saga. Pure badass.
In episode 94 of DB Super. When Goku goes to Baba's place to pick up Frieza.
He has to wait outside for a while to wait for Baba and Frieza.
On Babba's little tournament ring you can see Goku Jumping around and sparring for a bit.
When you put the footage side by side you can see that he's actually thinking about that very scene because he's doing the exact same moves.
I just thought you would appreciate that little detail in episode 94, if you hadn't noticed it already.
