That stupid alien voice over is gone from the first clip!
That's because the clip begins right after the stupid alien voice over would have ended. TBH it's kinda hard to tell if the dub is different in that first clip, but it definitely isn't any different from the 2009 Kikuchi mix in the second clip.

The first clip is the Japanese version. Kinda odd how that got mixed in with these.

Going by the second clip, I'd say no. More likely is they just used the Japanese audio for that particular clip (which I'm assuming has no dialogue whatsoever?).

In that case, does it sound like the first clip is using Dragon Box audio, Double Features audio, a new recording of the optical audio, or the broadcast audio?

I actually want to see the movies in the 4:3 aspect ratio that they were animated in. They cropped the original film print for theaters, but Funimation's first DVD set of the movies were in 4:3. I don't like losing out on the original image.

The fuck. Whomever decided to slap "Blu-ray" in bold red should be fired cause that's barely visible.

If you want the roughly the best quality that exists for Classic Dragon Ball movies in 4x3 then this is more or less it.

Dragon Ball M1 - Zima BD [A]
Dragon Ball M2 -
Dragon Ball M3 - Zima BD [A]
Dragon Ball M4 - Zima BD [A]

Dragon Ball Z M01 - FUNimation UUE DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M02 - FUNimation UUE DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M03 - FUNimation UUE DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M04 - FUNimation Single DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M05 - FUNimation Single DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M06 - FUNimation Single DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M07 - AB Video DVD [2]
Dragon Ball Z M08 - AB Video DVD [2]
Dragon Ball Z M09 - AB Video DVD [2]
Dragon Ball Z M10 - AB Video DVD [2]
Dragon Ball Z M11 - AB Video DVD [2]
Dragon Ball Z M12 - FUNimation Single DVD [1]
Dragon Ball Z M13 - FUNimation Single DVD [1]

The Zima Blu-rays use FUNimation's footage of the DB movies which is like Level-remastered. Unfortunately DB M2 was ruined by the low, low framerate. I don't know if there's a DVD release of the second movie that was published in the West (Spain? France? Italy? Germany?) or elsewhere without that issue, and with good to really good quality.

I've personally seen the Madman version of the DBZ FUNi Movie Singles and it's hardly an improvement so I'd rather just stick to the R1 DVDs, anyway.

DB Movie 2 had a Funi DVD single released late in 2005. That might be the best open matte transfer of that film ATM, though there's a rumor of an R3 release with the Funi single master that has a higher bitrate.

As a reminder, the Zima Blu-Rays are Latino Spanish only. The same transfer is used in Funimation Now and in the DVD 4-pack. Also, the AB Groupe discs are specifically the remastered "Intégrale des Films - Coffret Vol. 2". These have both Japanese audio and French audio with french subs.

Doesn't that also suffer from the fps issue?

It might, though I'm not sure. It's a different video transfer though.

Depends on which source was used, if it uses the footage found on FUNi's movie 3 pack version from 2005/2008 I would assume that it doesn't as the movie 3 pack version didn't have framerate issues (although it did have an annoying audio glitch somewhere IIRC), if it uses the footage found on FUNi's movie 4 pack version from 2011 however, unless they got a copy of that particular version before FUNi f****d up the framerate I would assume that it does have the framerate issues, I'd actually be very interested in seeing what source the R3 releases of the DB/Z movies use assuming they actually exist (we know that at least for DBZ the official R3 release uses some form of the DBOX footage so the R3 releases of the movies might be DBOX footage as well and retain Toei's original 16:9 presentation unless they were given the original open matte versions of the DBOX footage for the movies before Toei cropped them for 16:9, highly unlikely but not impossible either).
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

The version that's included in the Dragon Ball Movie 4 Pack has the fps issue but not the older single release.

an annoying audio glitch? I'm sorry? ...could somebody please confirm that, cause if BOTH of the DVD masters of DB Movie 2 have issues.....

I recently watched my copy of the Sleeping Princess 2005 DVD and I must say it is definitely the best 4:3 version of the movie out there. The framerate is completely intact because this is an older transfer, but on my television the colors look pretty great and I saw few if any artifacts.

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.

But are there any audio issues with it?

The Japanese track doesn't hold a candle to the dragon box but it if you listen to it on good speakers it'll be fine. Don't know about the dub.
