Does there is a need of drama and conflict ? On Yardrat goku can live an adventure as refreshing as the one he lived against the Pilaf gang something lighthearted with humour (things Akira Toriyama love) and Vegeta he is in space to find Goku so having him falling on the remaining force of the Frieza army could be great heck even him in space can trigger the way Cold find the whereabout of Earth.

Early Dragon Ball was not so heavy with drama and conflict.

Yes, stories absolutely need drama and conflict or else they aren't stories. Even against Pilaf, there was conflict and drama. Looking around isn't a story.

King Cold already knows where Earth is.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.
