Orange brick covers

If you could switch any cover art, which ones would you change? For the most part I think the covers chose the right character for each season, but I would swap a few out for new ones. For example, season 6 should have had Super Saiyan 2 Gohan, or even ss1 with the cape. Season 7 could have had Saiyaman. 8 could have been Fat Buu or Ss3 Goku. 9 should have had Kid buu. What do you all think?

My personal order for all three sets would have been thus:

BB1: Kid Goku
BB2: Roshi
BB3: Commander Red
BB4: Tien
BB5: Piccolo Jr.
---
OB1: Vegeta
OB2: Krillin
OB3: Frieza
OB4: Trunks
OB5: Perfect Cell
OB6: SS1 Gohan
OB7: Videl (or Mr. Satan)
OB8: Gotenks
OB9: Kid Buu
---
GB1: Young Goku
GB2: SS4 Vegeta

While all of them are understandable, the covers for OB6 and OB7 make the least sense to me. The use of Goku for OB6 is long after the Namek arc from which it originates, while Piccolo being on OB7 is long after he was an active participant and feels like a moment of "oh, crap, we don't have him on ANY of the previous covers, do we??". Overall I think the Kai "Part" boxsets do a better job of summing up what's on each disc, in particular because they often use art derived from a specific scene, which means they're more likely to contain more than one character. The Blu-Rays sets I think are cute for going with a panorama idea, but on a cover-by-cover basis they often appear a bit too busy.

I love the idea of getting Tien on the cover of Db, and young Goku on GT set . Does anybody have any insight on who chooses the cover art?

No idea who chooses the characters, but I imagine they had a modus of "Include all the popular main characters", which is why Roshi appears on a boxset where he isn't that present, among other oddities. It would have been great if they used a "scene" approach like the Kai artwork. That way we could have, say, Goku and Bulma on the bike, or Young Goku fighting Baby.

I picked the characters for mine based on how prominent the character is and who best represents the parts of the story in said boxset. Using Young Goku for the first GT Brick to me was important because of the presence of the original Black Star Ball arc being there, which for me is best represented with Young Goku as it's intentionally evoking the original two Dragon Ball hunts. Plus it averts that thing where SS4 Goku (and thus adult Goku) doesn't even appear until the very last episode of the set. I picked SS4 Vegeta to get him in on the GT action and represent SS4 as well (and I felt SS4 Gogeta looks far too similar to SS4 Goku).

Agree with all of these mostly. Mercenary Tao instead of Commander Red would be better I think l. And GT box 2 should either be Omega or stay Gogeta

I was considering Tao, however I erred to Red simply because he's the big villain of the arc with a lot more screentime than Tao (Korin was another option I was considering).
