Dragon Ball Movie Box?
I was in the Show off your Dragon Ball stuff thread and found a picture that had a Dragon Ball Movie box that I've never seen before. So I googled it and I found this.
What exactly is this and how does it differ from the newer release by FUNimation https://www.funimation.com/shop/home-vi ... ie-4-pack/
I've found a few on eBay for cheap and I might get them for shits and giggles also because it has a neat box to hold them.

That is the old release of the DB movies which FUNimation released back in 2005, however note that this box set does not have the first movie because at that point the distribution rights to it and the first thirteen episodes of the original DB series in their edited, dub-only form from ten years prior were for some reason still held under exclusive sublicense to Lionsgate (formerly known as Kidmark and Trimark) when FUNi was still a small company just starting out in the mid '90s, and they wouldn't get the rights reverted back to them until September 2009 with the release of the Blue Bricks and December 2010 for movie one to finally get an uncut, bilingual release.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:I was in the Show off your Dragon Ball stuff thread and found a picture that had a Dragon Ball Movie box that I've never seen before. Also note that a big difference between this and the four pack that FUNi released in 2011 is the transfers of the films, especially in the case of movie two because they somehow badly screwed up the frame rate which is horrifically laggy and looks terrible in motion. If you already have the individual release of movie one you can get this and not bother with that version primarily due to that one issue alone.

Yeah, i have the four pack set myself and the frame rate problem with movie two is just absolutely horrendous. I actually went and bought a copy of the old release to have the film in it's proper form without the fps cut in half because you can't help but notice when you see the jittery-ness of the remastered version. The most notable part is when Goku and Kuririn are racing against each other and it looks like the two of them are floating.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:Thank you very much, I can't believe this escaped me all these years.

Re: Dragon Ball Movie Box?
I love the covers of the slim "new" remastered sets but I ended up buying this movie box because it's technically superior. For example, Dragon Ball movie 4's Japanese audio is crystal clear whereas the remastered version has it muffled. Though, I did have to purchase movie 1 separately but wish I didn't cause it looks really dark at times and unable to see details that are there.
The Movie Box case in itself is really sturdy and looks great. DBGT boxes look great too but god damnit, that metallic GT logo kinda ruined it.

I wonder if that is likely because the source they used for the old version had better sounding audio for the Japanese side, much like how the single for DBZ movie 13 has the great sounding stereo track when compare to the Double Feature release. I also happen to really like the artwork they used on the four GT box sets as it is so nice and colorful but yeah it would be better with the original GT logo.JohnnyCashKami wrote:I love the covers of the slim "new" remastered sets but I ended up buying this movie box because it's technically superior. I already posted above that i bought the old release of movie two from this, primarily owing to the awful frame rate issue with the remastered version that is absolutely horrific to look at in motion.
