This forum is so over-dramatic that it's not even funny.

The whole thread? No. Didn't realize he was directly involved.

He's not mentioned in the thread. The timing may be just a coincidence as he was already stepping down.

EDIT: I made an error in my first post.
Fukunaga is not leaving the company, he is moving into a chairman position.

I had a feeling this was going to happen after Sony got involved.

Don't see anything in the story about Fukunaga retiring. So far, from the story, it looks like he voluntarily stepped down and would rather be in a chairman's position from now on.

Now I have lost all the respect for him and his company, because I just found this while I was searching for reviews about working on FUNimation:
https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Emplo ... 084853.htm

Man, I had no idea FUNi treated their employees like shit and think of the fans as stupid people.

I've never been able to trust Fukunaga as far as I can throw him. The many years that he spent setting up fans for their support only to pull the rug out from under them had cemented his reputation as a backstabber in my book.

But I also won't deny that his business prowess helped push anime further into the mainstream over on this side of the hemisphere. Not even Haim Saban was able to accomplish that.

It’s crazy, reading all that. I grew up about 3 hours from Fort Worth, TX. So when I was in college, I flirted with the idea of applying for work at FUNi. I read similar reviews to the ones you shared (this was 2013/2014, so around the same time). I never followed through because of what I read, as well as doubting myself. Guess I dodged a bullet on that one.

Them ignoring the fans' vote on Dragon Ball Z's aspect ratio for their Blu-rays didn't tip you off?

Yersh, thanks so much for the Orange Bricks, cancelled UUE/Levels, again cropped DBZ BD release, never bothered releasing DB Movies 1-4 4x3 AR on Blu-ray , etc. But otherwise, thanks!

Dragon Ball might've not been bought to the States without him. Someone else would probably have, but i think he should be thanked for being behind that m
