DragonBall Z X One Piece DX Figures

Post by straw_hat » Mon May 26, 2008 4:13 pm

Well Toriyama has drawn Luffy while Oda has drawn Goku and they've appeared in multiple crossovers together but now they're swapping each others clothing.

Goku and Luffy are set to come out in November while Nami and Bulma come out in December.

These figures are made by Banpresto. They have been creating really, a huge number of toys in celebration of the Jump 40th anniversary, some of which you can see here:

http://www.supersaiyantoys.com/Jump40.html

There's a lot besides the ones in this thread, and in that link that exist... I'll be updating with the rest soon.

This is the first time though that I'm seeing the two posted by straw_hat however, so thanks for the update!

All the best,

There is also a cross Manga? Why are these so related, One piece and Dragonball.

I seriously hope these things aren't signs on a cross-over. I'd hate a crossover. I want specials of both!

I doubt these have anything to do with the animated specials coming out this Summer. Goku just looks plain awesome so if I had to get just one it'd be him.

Um... I'm guessing you haven't heard of the DragonBall / One Piece manga crossover? I personally wouldn't mind a crossover anime. I mean, DB hasn't had any new animation stuff aside from video game openings in forever, right?

As for the figures, I've seen plenty of considerably new DB figures, but none of them have yet to wow me enough to buy 'em... until I saw these. Goku doesn't look weird wearing Luffy's gear at all. Him being barefoot while wearing ragged clothes is incredibly in-character. I like how he's still sporting his wrist bands, though--Goku and wrist bands are like Disney characters to gloves. The hair blowing in the wind looks pretty nice, too. I may even break my policy about getting female figures (the thought of getting 'em just seems creepy for the most part) just for these.

Crazy awesome sculpts overall. I just hope they don't cost too much.

I also hope that these figures aren't a sign of a possible crossover anime special.

The sculpt for Goku is just...*drool. Must get!

Wow, I seriously want one of those! Luffy in a Kame gi and Son in Luffy's gear...incredible.

I really hope there's a cross over in the works, FUNi would have no problem getting it!

Stuff like this is just what One Piece needs to boost its popularity in the US.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I really WISH these would come out in America. With both incarnations of each series having the same owners now, it's more feasible, but still kinda unlikely.

If it is done, they are going to have to do some serious promoting. Most anime fans still think of One Piece as that 4Kids disaster.

I'm diggin' Bulma in those clothes.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Yeah, and I'm digging Nami in the kame gi.

Really, this is the stuff I dream about.
