Favorite filler?

Post by TheBlackCracka » Wed Jul 23, 2008 1:41 am

You know Dragonball/Z/GT is full of filler. You might as well live with it and pick your favorite out of all of it!

Mine would have to be when Piccolo and Goku go to driving school.

Soo, not much more to say. Post what and why please :D

I liked it when Tambourine was travelling around murdering the contestants of the Tenkaichi Budokai.

Like the Yamucha and Giran fights.

Not that I liked seeing those characters getting killed, I just thought it showed that things were changing in the series, and it was growing from the more comedy based anime that it was before.

Y'know I would agree with you if it wasn't for filler such as "Humans VS. LAVA" and "Long cave exploration to find the sacred water!" Not to mention there are so many filler scenes in Dragonball that don't really detract anything from the experience but they seem to be there just to be boring and mundane. It's better then Z filler which I consider to actually be bad 90% of the time usually because it consists of snapping to some unrelated characters drinking soda or jacking off or something totally and utterly stupid just to get a cheap laugh for some comic relief and then they snap back to the canon. Or they opt to focus on a crumbling mountain for 10 minutes.

Anyway my favorite filler actually does come from Dragonball, I love Goku's training up on Kami's temple before the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. It was actually a really neat mini-arc in which Goku performed a bunch of different tasks to help increase his speed, power and accuracy. That and who doesn't love the creepy doll Goku VS. Goku fight? Of course in close second comes the driving school episode.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

I liked the Goku vs Cell fight since a lot of that was filler. I also like Vegeta and Goku vs Super Buu right before they fused. It was a cool fight and it also made their fusion a lot more believable.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I like most filler, except for the Ginyu Force vs. Yamcha, Ten and Chaotzu and the constant cutting away from the fight for the reactions of the spectators (Especially during the Cell games).

I'm not sure if it was in the manga or not but my LEAST favorite would be that episode at the end of Z where Goku was helping the dino birds protect their eggs until they hatched.

My favorites would be any of the filler in the Buu arc (excluding a couple episodes with Great Saiyaman), most of GT, filler with Tao, filler with Lunch (or Launch), and of course the driving school episode.

I can't stand the robot episode and fake Namek, and a lot of the Freeza fight I find pretty dull.

I liked the filler at the beginning of Z when Gohan found that robot in the cave. It was pretty sad.

But I have to see this Driving school episode. I guess it aired in America during the 1 year I stopped watching Dragonball.

Are you bashing my #5 favorite filler episode? I only picked the episode because of the party at the end of the episode.

In the manga, it skips from Buu's defeat and everyone meeting back at Kami's palace, to 10 years later. So all the episodes in-between that are filler.

Was mine not actually filler? I could have sworn it was...

I'm just surprised it hasn't gotten any other mentions.

While Goku is training at Kami's palace before the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, he travels back in time to learn how to control his ki. While he's there, he meets a young Kame-sennin, who is competing with a young Tsuru-sennin for the hand of a young woman. Goku trains with Mutaito, who teaches him to manipulate his ki, by splitting a waterfall in half. The training with Mutaito makes the episode totally worth it in my opinion.
