TV Special Insert Oddity & DBGT Season 1 Trailer.

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Mon Jul 28, 2008 3:46 pm

Nothing really important here but look at this. The DVD and Blu-ray insert for the TV special set show two different cover arts for "The History Of Trunks"

The top shows the DVD version and the bottom is the Blu-ray version...

Wait, why do I have both the DVD and Blu-ray version? Contact me if you want my DVD version, first person to reach me gets it. Tanookikuribo at ay oh el dot com Yes, it's totally free! Tanooki is fucking crazy!

Has the bottom one ever been used before, or is it an original piece? If so than that's pretty cool, a good strategy to try and sell two versions of the same material. :)

From me? No. The only way I can show off Blu-ray screen shots is if I actually take a picture with a camera. :?

Interesting find (though a bit excessive that you have both DVD versions). As another interesting tidbit, I vaguely remember seeing yet another different cover art for the FUNi's first release of the Trunks Special where he had a different colored shirt. It was in a trailer included in one of the old VHS releases.

You mean something like this?

There was an older version of the box art for History of Trunks from FUNimation that had this picture and it was used in the ads for it. Then it was, obviously, later changed.

I heard there is a GT season set trailer on the Blu-Ray Bardock/Trunks feature. Is it there?
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Yea it is. Everyone is asking me this. I didn't know it was such a big deal. Maybe I'll cam it and post it on youtube untill an official one comes out.

Funimation doesn't love you. But they do love your money.

Thanks a lot for this. From what the trailer says, they start with the Black Star DB arc and include the Baby saga as well. So no starting at episode 16.

Is your TV set to stretch video to 16:9? It's the same trailer we've seen before but this time in widescreen. But it doesn't look like anything's been cropped on either video, merely stretched. Can you confirm which aspect ratio the trailer is running at?

I have it set to stretch the image out to fit the screen.

Was anybody really honestly worried that FUNi wouldn't start with episode 1 and skip to the Baby Saga?

I mean, yeah, the higher-ups at FUNi are morons when it comes to DragonBall, but the "Lost Episodes" have already been dubbed, aired on television, and everybody who's seen them know that they take place before the Baby Saga. The first 16 episodes were originally removed to get English fans hooked on GT quicker. Now that it has fans, so there's no reason for FUNi to put them out-of-order anymore.

I seriously didn't even realize this was a concern for anybody.

It will be interesting to see the quality of the second version of DAN DAN, in the original releases the first version was crisp and clear, but the second version (that has Baby and Super Saiya-jin 4 Goku) was blurry, dark and over saturated, it basically looked like complete shit.

If they are really re-capturing the video (even if it is from Digi Beta) and keeping the original aspect ratio, if it's progressive has the original colours and a better bitrates... I might even pick it up, even though I own the previous releases.

..I will however, wait until it's cheap :P (The season sets are sixty bucks a pop here)

I'm not going to hold my breath though, I wouldn't be surprised if they just fuck us over again with widescreen.

Did nobody else notice the trailer said 32 episodes? the Black Star Dragon Ball saga and Baby Saga together come to 40 episodes. If there's only 32, then that means it will finish when Uub and Buu fuse together. That's not too good in my opinion. :P:(
