KeyHole TV: Now You Can Watch DragonBall Kai!

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Mon Feb 23, 2009 1:56 am

I know a few people here know of this. Kendamu actually pointed this out to me but I figured a lot of people here would like to have this.

This program "KeyHole TV" allows you to watch various channels from Japan, one of them being Fuji TV. You can find a download link and instructions on how to work it here:

http://xorsyst.com/japan/watch-japanese-tv-online/

Edit: I think it would be helpful if people would post where they are and what time they should tune in (in there country) to correspond with the time in Japan to catch DragonBall Kai.

April 5th, I think. It's a Sunday. It'll be on at 9AM Japan time. For those of us on EST, that would be 7PM Saturday night until the clocks change, and they don't change their clocks in Japan.

I just realized that Americans change their clocks on March 8th. So, by the time Dragonball Kai hits the air, it'll be 8PM Eastern Time that we'd tune in.

I could check into this myself I suppose, but can Keyhole TV serve to other devices on a network, like my PS3? I'd love to watch the show on my actual television.

Oh yeah, that would be great!

Or a real console, like my 360!

:P

Sorry, I'm not really a console fanboy.

By the way, this site can be helpful for knowing what the time is in Japan (or any other country).

Very accurate.

No subs, I assume. I can wait for fan-subs or releases. I will be anxiously waiting for some initial thoughts from others though.

Rule of thumb: Japanese television, Japanese audience, No English subtitles ;p

Isn't that what I said?

PS: Why do you always type "-Corey" ??? Couldn't you just put that in your signature?

Goodbye free time.

I'm surprised this thing is legal.

Nah, you said "I assume." I merely confirmed.

I could, I just type that on everything I send/post usually because I've visited places for ages, some that don't have signatures enabled. The only place I have a "signature" that I use with any consistency is my work email as a result.

It was developed for research purposes by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs to test out P2P (peer to peer) technology. The only downside is that the resolution is so small.

Just a couple things you guys unfamiliar with the service should know.
Keyhole TV is a good, reliable way to watch Japanese television, but don't expect anything near the kind of quality you get from regular broadcast television.

This isn't something you can watch from a comfortable couch on a big-screen TV. The video is broadcast in very low resolution, so you'll have to sit with your face close to your monitor with the video streaming in a window taking up one tenth of your screen. Expect the picture freezing regularly, expect the sound skipping, expect the sound and picture going several seconds out of sync, and expect having to disconnect and reconnect every five minutes or so when the stream either just stops or loses it's picture completely.
It's a convenient way to watch the series as it airs, but don't expect too much from it.

I'll probably use it for the first couple episodes just to get a "feel" for what the show is going to be.

I've been messing around with it for awhile. How will I know which channel is Fuji TV?

I'll be using Keyhole tv.

Prey that Toei subs it and streams it online in high-def though. :)
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.
