Golden Freeza is Freeza, minor nitpick, it just irks me. Its like saying, SSJ Goku, or SSG Goku.

Golden freeza trained with whis, full current roster trained with whis except 17 that's the place frerza takes..

Pretty close to what we got in the end really. Not that I'm disappointed with 17 as I'm sure we'll get some nice interactions with him, I just prefer Yamcha.

Buu's never done much for me as a character though, and Jaco is hugely entertaining.

The interactions would be interesting too. Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo and Gohan having to work alongside the person who killed two of them and genocided two of the races they belong to? Freeza being forced to work with Goku? Goku probably being very chilled about the whole situation whilst nearly everyone else bar Buu and maybe the Androids flips out?

Just going by which fighters I'd like to see fight the most (along with the ones who it would simply feel wrong if they didn't feature), my most favorite setup would be:

So basically it would be similar to the actual team except with 17 and Roshi being exchanged for the two saiyan kids. Although with that said, I also do love seeing Roshi fight as well (17 I'm kinda neutral about).

Swap the old man who hasn't trained with 2 gods and gravity for his student who he himself said surpassed him even before doing that.

That right there. Freeza already needed to survive the Resurrection F arc on principle, simply because having him back and up to parity is too good an opportunity to pass up: and this tournament is just such an opportunity. Lest we forget, Vegeta has made it abundantly clear that cooperation does not equal camaraderie in this story; if Freeza is man enough to admit that Goku's Battle of Gods/Super era strength is more than even he could have guessed, he can fight in a tournament for own self-preservation.
