Gohan saying Trunks does have the same chi as his father

How do you take it? Do you think it means just the same type of chi, the same amount, both?

Well, given the term that Gohan used...

Gohan: “It’s fa-father!!! It’s the same ki as father back then!!”
Note: Gohan says it’s the ‘same ki’ (onaji ki), rather than the ‘same amount of ki’ (onaji gurai no ki).
...It seems to mean the same type of ki rather than size or amount. So it's most likely just that Super Saiyan ki has a certain distinct "feel" to it.

Gohan recognized the barbeque flavor of Trunks' ki distinctly matched the barbeque flavor of Gokuu's after transforming into a Super Saiyan during the battle with Freeza on Planet Namek.

As no two persons can have same ki signature, he was referring to feel of SS ki being the same..

Which probably feels like tingling in the back

But looking at the definition of "the same":

Identical; not different.
‘she was saying the same thing over and over’
‘I have never made the same mistake since’
‘I'm the same age as you are’
‘the very same people who practised all the rules are now the most sceptical’
with clause ‘he put on the same costume that he had worn in Ottawa’
‘she was still the same old Beth’

It's pretty much identical, not differing in any way. Chi is something that operates in the frequence of quantity and type. If it were similar just in type, wouldn't it be contradicting the definition of "same"?

The definition of "similar" would be more fitting if the similarity lied only on the type of chi, in which two similar things can have some discrepancies. Goku also defined the Namekians' chis as being similar to Piccolo's:

And we know the Namekians' chi only resemble Piccolo's in the type.
