Goku and Vegeta on Yardrat

What would have transpired if like Goku in the main timeline, Vegeta chose to stay on Planet Namek than to follow everyone else on the dying Namekian homeworld to the Earth, and then went along with Goku to Planet Yardrat, in order to catch up to his rival in power?

That would certainly be an interesting experience since Vegeta would lose if he attempted fighting Goku again, it might lead to a situation where Vegeta either isolates himself with intense, tormenting training and/or let's himself be pummeled by Goku to the point of near death and has Yardratians heal him until he Zenkais his way to power. In both scenarios it would certainly show how unhealthy Vegeta's obsession with being the strongest Saiyan was, Goku may take pity on Vegeta by pushing him into going SSJ or letting him win a fight.
