Could the original Demon King Piccolo become giant?

Having rewatched the Piccolo arcs of Dragon Ball I was curious as to why Demon King Piccolo didn't also turn giant. Could he not use the form or was it something else?

He was already pretty huge to begin with. I know some of it was height inconsistency but in his debut appearance he was minimum 15 feet the way Pilaf Mai and Shu barely went past his ankle.

We can assume he has the ability considering Kami is of average person size. My guess is he was constantly using that ability but not to its extreme like Piccolo Jr. in the 23TB.

I'd say yes to that. If Slug was considered a Super Namkian then King Piccolo should be in the same league. Since Super Namkians had the ability to become giants. But, a giant form is useless if it can't hit anything. :/
