I have a very interesting way to get from where we are to the end of Z and add a new idea to the franchise. At the end of this movie have Goku's Gi all ripped apart and messed up, and Bulma comes in with a replacement Gi saying she designed it herself. We see him walk out to the balcony at capsule corp Wearing his blue gi from the end of z. Thats the last scene of the movie as Goku smiles at the camera. When super comes back, we have Goku and Vegeta training with Whis when out of nowhere Grand Priest shows up and says that a demon from the demon realm has escaped and plans to remove the seal on the demon realm and let all the demons loose. He says this will happen in 5 years from now and that he wishes to train Goku and Vegeta for 3 years so the can take on this threat. Goku immediately says yes, but Vegeta refuses because he doesn't want to miss out on the first 3 years of his daughter's life. So grand priest takes Goku and trains him for 3 years and Goku comes back just in time for the tournament with uub. Goku fights Uub and see´s potential in him and trains him to harness his power so he can help take on the threat of the demons.

How strong is this demon if the GP is getting involved? If its even relative in strength to the GP it wouldn't matter how much training Goku does with Uub they'll still get destroyed

Its below GP but above all the Gods of Destruction. He tried to convince Zeno to do it, but he would rather play and didn't care. Plus if training with Whis could get Vegeta from Buu tier to BoG tier, then imagine what training with the Grand Priest would do.
