In the Namek Saga of Dragon Ball Z. How would having a much younger Mr. Grand Elder Guru have changed the storyline?

He may not have been immobile, so close to death, and rather melancholy about everyone's chances, but he may run the risk of involving himself too much which could make him more of a target. Also, Vegeta would have become immortal which would have really changed things for the worse since Vegeta hadn't yet achieved his face-heel turn.
