Would the technique help it grow or burn it to the ground?

Nothing really. The Taiyoken is just a burst of light emitted from a person's forehead. As seen at the 22nd Tenkaichi, having a pair of sunglasses can make the light at least tolerable enough to not need to look away. Never has it been seen causing any degree of burns upon the intended subject. Plants don't even have eyes so it would probably give it a little more photosynthesis for however long the light shined.

The Taiyo-ken isn't a traditional ki attack that burns things... it's just a big, potent flash of light. It'd be no different than taking a picture of a plant with the flash on.

If it's one of those photosensitive moving plants, it might cause it to turn towards the light.

The plant may burn up if it didn't have enough water.
