Vegeta’s love for his father and pride in the Saiyans

Post by Travis Touchdown » Fri Feb 15, 2019 1:48 pm

Just out of morbid curiosity, I was wondering if this has been addressed anywhere.

So old information always said Vegeta supposedly really loved his dad and he does always talk of his immense pride in the Saiyans. He’s fully on the side of good now and has had access to the Dragon Balls for years... why not wish for Planet Vegeta’s revival or at least his dad’s resurrection?

1. The Dragonballs can't wish back a large group of people that have been dead for over a year.
2. He and his dad would have nothing to rule over.

You know, the contrarians who think DB should be a Slice-of-Life series, the folks who worship Pre-Raditz Dragonball uncritically, the folks who downplay and often flat-out deny that Dragonball is an action series, the folks who try to push that false argument that none of the serious moments in the series were mean't to be taken seriously, etc.

Dragonball doesn't have a single tone. It has both silly and serious moments, both humor and drama, just like real life. The idea that a work of fiction should be only all-comedy or all-serious is unnatural and frankly, retarded.

IIRC, the Earth & Namekian DBs can only revive someone who has died in the last year or so. About Vegeta's admiration for his father though...that's about all there is to that relationship. Saiyans don't really "love" someone so much as they just enjoy that person's company or a preference to have that person around, they like others but not love others. Vegeta looked up to his father as less of a loving parent and more of a stern guide on his Saiyan heritage & royalty, its not really enough for him to use the Super DBs to revive him though. King Vegeta was still wicked at heart and would disapprove of his son having a human as a wife and especially diluting their elite Saiyan lineage by bearing a child with said human.
It might seem cruel but Vegeta probably prefers his dad to be dead so that there won't be any conflict between his old life & current life, he is enjoying the peace & people on Earth too much to forsake it for his father.

Which information is that? And where does it come from?

The Super Dragon Balls can revive anyone with no limits. And as for the Saiyans not 'loving'. I'd say that's more of a matter of opinion.

Vegeta is prideful of his race, and routs Saiyan royalty as something to behold, but he still diesn't give a shit about anyone other than himself. (Or at least that's how he felt about it during the time he knew his dad etc)
