Dr. Briefs Cats Name?

Does Dr.Briefs cat have a name? In the Original, Dub, or both?

I'm pretty sure both are fan-derived, but I believe in Japanese, he's called "Tama," and in English, "Scratch."

The Dub called it "Scratch", I don't think it had a name in the original.

I just looked through kanzenban number four, and didn't see it called by name anywhere. I'm pretty sure that it's nameless in the manga. I'll keep looking though.

*EDIT*

I just finished looking through volume 17, and the cat wasn't mentioned at all. I can't remember if Dr. Briefs shows up again. I thought that he was in one of the later volumes, but I couldn't find it. I guess it doesn't matter it's highly doubtful that he would mention the cat's name in the Buu stuff anyway, if he's even there. I think my minds playing tricks on me.

That it was. Still thought it was funny when saw that and remembered the DBZ Uncesored guy getting mad about the dub giving it a name he thought it didn't have. Still remember he admitted he missed out on a lot of DB at the time but still thought it was funny.

Its definitely called scratch, I remember Dr Briefs talking to his little black cat and quoting 'Well Scratch, looks like its going to be another late night.'

I can't quite remember if this was something to do with Vegeta destroying his Gravity room, or if it was when the spaceship crash landed.

I definitely remember that quote though... It stuck clearly in my head.

Well, if they called it "Scracth", than they did give it a name it didn't have. Granted, changing the name of Dr. Brief's cat that's only even named in filler isn't really a major change. Still, there have been quite a few instances of the dub giving names to characters who were nameless in the original. Those crazy gunmen in the Buu arc come to mind.

Just because it was filler doesn't mean that isn't the cat's name. Toriyama gave a lot of stuff to the animation team that he never used in the manga "canon". Personally, since we don't get any statement from the manga saying otherwise, I'd say Tama is the canon.
