Not to mention one of the worst episodes ever, mainly because of that fact.

And let's not even begin to talk about "five minutes on Namek". (Actual line I used with a girlfriend once: "I wish we were in the Dragon World so five minutes could be as long as three months." I wonder why she dumped me...)

Some filler really adds to the story. Goku's training before the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai and, of course, the driving episode are really enjoyable. I don't watch all fillers because I know a lot of them are utter crap. However, when filler is done well it is on a par with the canon storyline.

I can't watch most filler. I just want to shoot myself in the head when it's happening. That's why I love Kai so much, despite it's musical score (not to say it's bad, but it's not on DBZ's level).

Most of the filler is tolerable in the anime, though I'm usually anticipating the canon stuff while watching.

The only filler I definitely hate is the episode of Goku protecting the eggs. They never explained what the hell Goku had to do with them, and why they were so important. It just became so corny when it became so sentimental about the magic of life. It was so close to the end of the series, just show the remaining tournament episodes and wrap it up.

I have for you the only good thing about that episode.

I was watching entire series how is meant to be..... If I will skippng to the battles, I won't enjoy it that much..... Filler is sometimes boring, but it's part of animated series and I personally enjoy that battles much more after waiting for it trough the fillers.

I mostly watch through the filler, I don't really mind sitting through it, except the Garlic Junior saga. I can't stand that piece of time waster!

I don't think that was particularly warranted in this case :?

Wow. You actually kinda-sort-not-really took up for me there.

Never thought that would ever happen.

Can we take that sort of thing to PMs?

Anyhow, the Majin Boo arc has some of my favorite filler (the extended Majin Vegeta fight, the extended Kid Boo fight, etc.)

Another guilty pleasure of mine is the Afterlife Tournament, as much as I dislike how the fight turned out, but alas...

The only filler arc I actively sit and watch is the Otherworld Tournament, because it was actually a halfway decent arc.

You could try being a little cooler under pressure. Maybe they'd get bored and stop.

I don't really care. I come here to discuss Dragon Ball, not to read this sort of thing and have it derail threads I may very well prefer to contribute to.

EDIT: Ah, how could I forget the Illusion Saiyans? That was a pretty fun episode. Espicially in Abridged: "Yeah, well at least I get som pus--oh, wow that did not come out right..."

More seriously, I actually prefer that filler episode as the ending of DBZ.

Dude, I love the Garlic Jr minisaga! My three favorite characters at the time it aired, kicking ass on their own without overbearing amounts of Sayiajin doing everything? Bizarre moments of creepiness and hilarity intermixed at random, and Piccolo reprising his role as the Sexy Genus for the whole thing? I was sold, and I still love it today though Yamcha has replaced Krillian as my third favorite boy. I watch it gleefully.

I do loath Fake Namek though, oi. Something about me being overprotective of my green boys and just something rubbing me really wrong in that whole little plotline.

In terms of filler in general? I've never skipped filler. Some is good, some is bad, but it's a part of the show and if I'm watching the show why would I turn it off o_O I'd only skip straight-up recaps because I was just watching those episodes, why do Son and Freezer need to stare at each other and play a whole episode of things I just saw an hour ago...

I prefer the show for having the filler. It gives us more downtime to get to know people- I can't imagine the whole story preparing for the landing of the Sayiajin going by in one page and I was always heavily disappointed to realize the manga just wiped right on past all of the character development that needed to happen in there (most strongly Gohan's whole story and his developing relationship with Pic) to make you feel for the characters. That, and I'm a sucker for Piccolo lifting pyramids with his mind <_< There's just so many cool, unique little things that happen that are absolutely worth every minute of bad filler to get to.

And as a random note, even I have to admit that's a freaking gorgeous picture of Chichi. I've never seen her look that good with her hair up before. Doesn't that episode also have Pic and Veg sitting at a table together trying to act like they're not interested in the party, but tapping feet to the music anyway or something?

I don't get this logic that filler sucks because it wasn't in the manga. I have to admit, there isn't one filler I don't skip, I personally enjoy most of it as much as the canon material. When I'm rewatching the series, yes, I watch the 5 minutes on Namek, the Garlic Jr. Saga, Bulma's Namek adventures and all that because I personally don't mind it.

To be honest, it adds another lair of story to Dragon Ball, as we get to examine their lives better. Its not as good as the canon material, obviously, but its not shit in my opinion.

Yeah all in all I agree with you there. I personally have no problem with filler, whether it's canon or not and whether it's logical or not it entertains. The bottom line is the anime was designed for exactly that.
