I dont like mystery or speculation because its too easy to overhype on an interesting idea or concept of something bigger than what we're likely to see.
I certainly wouldn't contend that how you feel is wrong Please let me know if I'm misinterpreting this train of thought because it's not my intention to put words in your mouth.
You don't like speculation because you don't want to get excited in the event that something you 'do' want to see doesn't happen?
That kind of goes against everything about the series and manga in general. Does one enjoy it because he or she knows what will happen?
The stories I came up with in my head as a child for conclusions to stories were often far more fantastic than what usually transpired, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy thinking about them.
Perhaps a bit of my 31 years showing, but just enjoy the moment. Without respect to solely DB, it seems it'd be a lot more fun to enjoy social speculation with friends and have good memories of that even if the final product is meh. That way you have good memories of the time leading up to it rather than a period of 'meh' followed by more 'meh'.
It might not appear this way but I'm not trying to lecture or being antagonistic; I'd just like to understand how one couldn't get excited about the mystery of a series which has 'Mysterious' in the title of its opening theme song.
I am STRONGLY considering flying to Japan to see this in theaters. I even have the benefit of knowing someone that currently lives there, and they've already offered to house me for a day or two which should save a ton of money it would cost to find lodging.. of course the plane trip itself would still be expensive (probably over a grand?) and the fact that I can't understand Japanese at all... other than a few quips I picked up from watching subbed DBZ for years. "Kono uchuu ichi nanda.. FUREEZA SAMA!"
If you have the funds and it won't put you under any financial or emotional strain, you should
totally do it. Even if you don't consider the movie enjoyable I promise the experience will burn itself in your memory. I think Julian can attest to this but seeing Battle of the Gods here was like taking a trip in a time machine that grants wishes.
