Chapter Synopsis

In the gravity room at Capsule Corp., Vegeta is training and Trunks is with him. Vegeta tells Trunks he should leave, since 150G is probably too much for him. Trunks says Goten called last night to say he was entering the Tenka’ichi Budōkai, so he has to enter too. Trunks says this is too hard, and so he decides to turn Super Saiyan. Vegeta is shocked, as Trunks enjoys being able to run around now. Vegeta wonders when he could start doing this, and thinks of how easily he became a legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta stops Trunks and asks him if Son Gohan’s little brother is a Super Saiyan as well. Vegeta thinks this is becoming “Super Saiyan bargain sale”, and then tells Trunks to attack him. Trunks thinks Father is too strong, but Vegeta says he’ll take him to the amusement park if he hits him in the face just once.

Trunks goes all out, but Vegeta dodges every time. Trunks finally manages to scratch his cheek, and Vegeta counters by knocking Trunks across the room. Vegeta never said he wouldn’t counter, and Trunks starts to cry. Vegeta tells him not to cry, he’ll take him to the amusement park, but first he asks who’s stronger between Trunks and Son Gohan’s little brother. Trunks is, just by a little bit though, because Goten’s a year younger and can’t fly. Vegeta is pissed about these kids being so strong. Meanwhile, Videl is starting to float a lot, and Gohan tells her there’s not much left he can teach her. But she wants to be able to fly as good as Goten, so she’ll keep coming until then. Gohan whispers to Goten not to fly so fast when Videl’s around.

They touch back down on the ground and Videl says her ability to fly needs to be a secret from Papa (Mister Satan), because she wants to surprise him while fighting. He also wouldn’t like that she’s going to a boy’s house, and she’s only allowed to get involved with a boy that’s stronger than Papa, even though there’s no boys like that… Gohan asks if she’s ever fought with her dad, and she hasn’t. Gohan thinks that she doesn’t realize she’s actually stronger than Mister Satan. He asks if she’d be shocked if her father was defeated, but Videl says he needs to lose, he’s been getting caught up in himself, and frolicking with lots of women since Mama died. Videl wants to get back to training now, but first asks where Gohan learned martial arts. “A person I know, and my dead father.” Videl figures his father was really strong, and Goten says their father is coming back for the Tenka’ichi Budōkai. Videl figures he’s not really dead, but he ran off, and he’s coming to see them at the Budōkai.

“Videl-san was no ordinary girl after all, and she was able to fly freely after just ten days. Thanks to this, Goten and I were able to get into serious training alone. The day of the Tenka’ichi Budōkai, where Father is also coming, is near…!!”
