Dust Jacket & Obi

The sixth volume’s dust jacket features an illustration by Toyotarō with various heroes joining No. 17 as he works his ranger job protecting the various animals. Mr. Satan (running to dress and catch up with everyone) and the Great Priest are featured on the back cover. The imagery is pulled directly from a poster originally released alongside the March 2017 issue of Saikyō Jump, and is an amalgamation of homages and references to prior Dragon Ball artwork.

The included obi promotes the monthly release of Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine (where the Dragon Ball Super manga is serialized), along with the upcoming 2018 Dragon Ball Super theatrical film.

Volume Introduction by Toyotarō

EN
JP
I have a memory from my childhood of a time that I forgot to record the anime when I went out with my family, and I said, “What if Goku ends up losing while I’m not watching?! We need to hurry back.” My dad replied, “If he loses, he loses; it doesn’t make a difference if you’re watching or not,” and I had no retort. That’s not the point! Though even to this day, I’m still not sure what the best reply would’ve been…

Volume Contents

The title for the collected volume — 集まれ超戦士たち! (Atsumare Chō Senshi-tachi! or “Super Warriors Assemble!”) — is taken directly from the thirty-first chapter‘s title.

The volume’s standard front cover is a desaturated version of the dust jacket’s front cover, while the back cover is a new illustration of Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, and the Turtle Sage equipped in Freeza’s army garb behind Freeza himself.

The inside title page showcases 17 and 18 alongside the volume’s title and two author credits.

To fill out the necessary page count, Toyotarō supplies new drawings between chapters. In one drawing, Shin confirms with Whis that all of the angels are siblings; Whis notes that Kusu from Universe 10 is the oldest. No bonus chapters are included (having caught up in volume five); “Corrections Done by Toriyama-sensei Himself” make a reappearance from their debut in the third collected volume, with a brief showcase of character design and panel layout adjustments.
