Kanzenshuu – The Podcast

Your one and only Dragon Ball podcast!

Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!

Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.

Podcast Episode #0136 — 06 July 2008

Episode #0136 of the podcast is available for download! We’re back into the swing of things this week with the “Manga Review of Awesomeness” as Jeff joins us for volume seventeen. If you are looking over at your collection of Viz manga and don’t see a “DB 17” over there, that is because in Japan the entire manga series is simply called DragonBall beginning to end, volume one to forty-two. The “Z”-distinction from the TV series was only applied to the manga by Viz when they began releasing it state-side so many years ago. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0136! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff finally hit the “Z”-era with volume seventeen of our “Manga Review of Awesomeness”. The innocence is lost as Goku discovers his true origin, and Toriyama’s story will never be the same. Julian rounds out the rest of the episode with us as we cover all of this week’s news, hit up the DBZ ABCs, read some e-mails, and start up a new contest!

Podcast Episode #0135 — 29 June 2008

Episode #0135 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we checked in with KaiserNeko and Lanipator from the new DragonBall Z Abridged fan-parody series by TeamFourStar!

We only recently discovered this recent trend of creating “Abridged” series, ourselves, and so with the debut of this group’s take on the TV series we definitely wanted to check in with them and see how the whole thing works. It’s an absolutely hysterical take on the series that has so many clever jokes for so many different types of fans, and still retains that genuine charm and endearing qualities of the original. If you haven’t seen it yet, you absolutely need to do so. In addition to that, we also dive into some somewhat-artificially-created drama between two dub voice actors as well as a ton of other news. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0135! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff interview some of the brains behind the new “DBZ Abridged” series from TeamFourStar. Where did this hilarious new fandub series come from, and what can we look forward to in the future? Definitely check it out.

Podcast Episode #0133 — 15 June 2008

Episode #0133 of the podcast is available for download! We took a look at Burst Limit this week, which just came out for the Xbox 360 & PS3. Our initial thoughts on the game are literally just that, since the game had only been out for three days when we recorded. Look for more in-depth coverage of the game in a few weeks, but also be sure to check this one out for a few different perspectives, including that of a… err… recurring character? Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Episode #0132 of the podcast is available for download! This week we took a look at the new CD out of Japan this week, “Inazuma Challenger”:

You may remember this CD initially being billed as the “21st Century Versions” of the original DragonBall TV series opening and closing themes. Those are all still on here (including remixes and even an English version!), so listen in for all sorts of sound samples, our full review, and our recommendations. We also (finally) checked out that amusing release from Hitomi Kitamura which also contains a cover/remix of “Romantikku Ageru Yo”. In addition to all this, we checked in with Julian, gave away a DVD (did you win?!), and a whole lot more. Definitely check it out.

Podcast Episode #0129 — 18 May 2008

Episode #0129 of the podcast is available for download! Pretty much ten years after first watching it, Meri and I go back and do the unthinkable… we watch the Garlic Jr. saga for the second time ever. How was it? Well, listen in for yourself. Some of the things we have to say may shock you… but overall, you probably won’t be too surprised. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0129! VegettoEX and Meri review the Garlic Jr. Saga. That’s right, we sat through the first of two entirely original story arcs in the DBZ TV series, and lived to tell about it. Podcast Episode #0128 — 12 May 2008

Episode #0128 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry that it’s a day late and a buck short, but whatcha gonna do? It’s a shortie, but it’s a doozy.

Meri and I took a look at The Dragon Ball Z Legend: The Quest Continues, a “guidebook” (and boy, do we ever use that term loosely) written by Satoshi Ikeda and Martin Foster, and published by Cocoro Books. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0128! VegettoEX and Meri review “The Dragon Ball Z Legend” from Cocoro Books, which purports to be “an essential source for every anime fan”. What we found, instead, was a horribly-written attempt at a guidebook filled with spelling errors, factual inaccuracies, and more flip-flopping than one should ever have to read.

Podcast Episode #0127 — 04 May 2008

Episode #0127 of the podcast is available for download! Julian seems to need one more week or so to get all settled in with internet access, so we trucked onwards without him once more. Jeff, Meri, and myself tackled volume sixteen of the manga, and had both quite a bit to say about it, and at the same time, not a whole Hell of a lot to say about it. Definitely check it out.

The 23rd Tenka-ichi Budokai is more or less at a close (depending on which country you are in), and there is no turning back now with regards to the story-telling style.
