This week’s upcoming May 2014 issue of V-Jump — officially hitting Japanese shelves 20 March 2014 — announces that the Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai will have a new opening: “Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go” (空•前•絶•後) performed by Takayoshi Tanimoto (Dragon Soul).
The magazine also confirms the first closing theme for the Majin Boo arc, “Dear Zarathustra” by the band Good Morning America.
“Dragon Soul” (the song, not to be confused with the name of the “unit” that also performs said song, fronted by singer Takayoshi Tanimoto) was used for the entire 98-episode run of original Dragon Ball Kai episodes from the Saiyan to Cell arcs. Updated animation was provided along the way during major story shifts, similar to what was done with “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” in the original version of Dragon Ball Z.
Unlike the closing theme for the Majin Boo arc of the series, which will shift between new songs as it progresses, there is no word yet on whether or not the opening will also change at any point. If the first part of Dragon Ball Kai is any indication, the opening may simply stay the same the rest of the way through.
