New Translation: 1996 “Dragon Ball, If You Please” Akira Toriyama Comic
Published by 19 November 2016, 4:18 PM EST

The 1996 #13 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan contained a special feature promoting the new Dragon Ball GT television series as well as the 10th anniversary theatrical film, The Path to Power. Introducing this special feature was a short, one-page comic by none other than original author Akira Toriyama himself! In the comic, Toriyama describes his personal business of the day, lack of self-confidence, and anticipation for the new animated works. While Toriyama had provided brief comments both before and after the completion of the Dragon Ball GT television series, this may have been his only comment on Dragon Ball GT during its actual broadcast (though he admits not having actually seen any of it yet due to the production timeframe of the self-insert comic), and likely the last time he ever drew the child version of Dragon Ball GT‘s Goku.
