Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator

The cold reality is that to Shueisha, Bandai and Toei, Dragon Ball is a multi-billion-dollar IP that will continue to make a profit regardless of the presence of its creator. They continue to franchise out the IP until it stops making a lot of money for them. I would love to say that on the 40th ann...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

I... I... just... don't know what to say. Everyone meets their end at some point and I thought I would be ready for this... but I'm... just not. I didn't want to believe the news when I first heard of it, but now that it has truly sunk in, I feel like a small piece of my has died as well. Akira Tori...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

Sadly this game (like most of the stuff the franchise has put out in the last decade) will flop. Yes even the great Tenkaichi now dont get me wrong the graphics look nice but they are not on the level of Fighterz they are better than XV2/Kakarot tho ( which isnt much of a feat tbh). The thing thats...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

Gonna need more gameplay before I can formulate a preliminary opinion.

Visually it looks good, though.

Hopefully they announce a beta soon.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

No, Daima has no relation to Super, what we can say at best for now is that it is its own thing, maybe a side story, but unlike Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku, it has its own brand. If Daima wants to be its own thing, so be it. The last thing I want is for Daima to pick elements from Super while disre...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

Looks pretty. It'll probably be 25 episodes max. Too nice and too beautifull to be a long term series. I'm disappointed. It doesn't help that it comes from Toriyama. He really is out of ideas. This franchise should be taken over by someone who cares or just die. To be fair, the Wano arc for the One...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

I do have to wonder what's going to happen to the Dragon Ball Super manga. Does it just continue as its own separate entity? Or does Toyotaro get to do one more major arc before wrapping up the manga and adapting Daima ? I mean, if the reports are true and that the show has been in production for mo...

I see this as a 12-24 episode series. Nothing more, nothing less.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

At least from what I'm reading, at least from a production standpoint, Toei is putting in a lot of effort. But I can't shake the feeling that all this effort should have been put into a Dragon Ball series that didn't a have core concept that felt so... old hat.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

Um... okay? I mean... I don't see a series with a core concept like turning the cast into children lasting more than a dozen or so episodes before the charm wears off and edges dangerously close to GT 2.0 territory, but I'll hold my reservation until more information about how long the series will l...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

The jury is still out for me.

Turning the cast into children just reeks of not having any ideas left.

Visually it looks decent but I can't imagine a concept like this lasts more than two dozen episodes

Re: Would you feel confident in the series if it were left in Toyotarou's hands?

Hell no. While his artwork has gained a level of consistency, his storytelling still leaves a lot to be desired. But I think he would benefit greatly from having a more active and involved editor to bounce ideas off of or re-work ongoing narrative concepts. I mean, Toyotarou's last original arc was ...

Real talk though... if this is a thing, it feels like a MASSIVE waste of resources what they intend the narrative to [allegedy] be.

Re: Do you like Super?

I really like quite a few bits and pieces of each medium of it, but as a whole, I feel Super leaves a lot to be desired, narratively and aesthetically. I can't shake the feeling that if you were to take the best of the anime, the best of the manga, and the best of movies, and combine them together i...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

So I really enjoyed this movie, and I just found out in the few hours that internationally it did gangbusters...But it wasn't well received in Japan. Makes me wonder how this will play out in future movies or a new series. (if they do it) The international voice of Dragonball is the strongest it ev...
