Re: Viz launching $1.99/month manga subscription service, includes DB/Z/Super/Yamcha manga series + Full Color chapters.
Is there any way us European people can subscribe? Viz's supported regions are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, the Philippines, Singapore, and India. So if you live in the UK or Ireland, you should be able to just do so from Viz's websit...

Well, the subscription hasn't quite gone live yet, but you can see placeholders for all the stuff that's in "The Vault" (actually clicking anything goes to a 500 Error page). https://www.viz.com/shonenjump We can see that the subscription includes Viz's release of the black-and-white DB (a...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Per the changes Viz is making starting next week (which I made a thread about in the General Franchise section), they'll actually be posting chapter 43 on the 20th: Talking about viz news, how is that gonna affect to the subscribers prior this new offer ? You can either cancel your subscription and...

How much this distinction matters might be debatable, but strictly speaking this was a poll of "most representative [of the era]" not "best".

Re: why do fans of One Piece and Naruto Shippuden critisize Dragon Ball a lot?
Does Oda really plan out his stories? Toriyama is a "pantser", but that's always made sense to me given the nature of his story having to be released weekly. There are definitely story beats and character elements that he decides on way in advance, but in real terms I think he just kind o...

Just because it was deemed worth discussing last week:

Unsurprisingly, premiere episodes garner extra attention and interest compared to subsequent ones.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
The thing about a chart based on the rankings is that most of the time when DBS gets a higher ranking than normal it's just because other, more popular shows happened to not air that week (usually Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan). The percentages are far more relevant and useful for comparison purpose...

Re: Comic Fans: How does Dragon Ball compare to your favorite American comics?
Like other people have said, I'm not super comfortable trying to make a direct comparison in terms of plot and characterization. That being said, since I'm currently slogging through Spider-Man's Clone Saga...I really appreciate just how much quicker of a read Dragon Ball is on a chapter-to-chapter ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
That tweet has apparently been deleted. Here's what I assume is the new one: https://twitter.com/FUNimation/status/936646428662927361 I'm guessing there was some miscommunication (or just a typo), because the batches of 13 episodes are supposed to be uploaded to FunimationNow two weeks after the las...

Re: Turner expands Toonami to Africa!
Is it really that unusual to have a 30-minute time slot for a cartoon in the UK? I can understand that a 15-minute slot would provide the network with greater flexibility in their schedule, but as an American it feels really weird that this of all things would be a deal-breaker. I think it's kind o...

Re: Turner expands Toonami to Africa!
It's available on home video here and has done pretty well. But there's three reasons why the UK tv stations haven't picked it up. a) It's foreign b) It's has fighting (can't allow that to be shown to the kiddies) c) The big one it's 20 mins so 30 mins with adverts. In other words if it was 11 mins...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Yeah, it's pretty much down to Toonami being a once-a-week thing. Also possibly Adult Swim wanting to maintain a certain degree of variety on the block. The upside to this is that it gives Funimation more time to work on each episode, and it should completely avoid the situation with DBZ (and other ...

I mean, it's not so much a revelation about the BADMAN shirt as it is Sabat's headcanon regarding it. Still interesting, though.

I think they're implying that they bought the DVD singles back in the day and felt burned when the Season box sets started coming out.
