Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

As far as any of us know he's doing well, he probably lives a very comfortable and happy life with all of the money he has made from Dragon Ball. The last TV interview I remember of him was done in promotion of Battle of Gods, he was wearing a track suit like the one Gohan wears, and they didn't sh...

Re: Is it possible for fusions to fuse?

I just thought of something funny: What if you do fusion, wait a while, then do another fusion and have both fusions fuse. What will happen after it's time for the first fusion to unfuse? Maybe it'll create something called fission where they unfuse and everyone involved will explode and die. ...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

. 2) The location where Frieza is revived is described as being the same where Trunks cut him into pieces years ago. It hasn't been elaborated on why, but maybe because you come back alive at the place you die, I guess? The Namekian Dragon Balls were like that, but I don't recall that happening wit...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

That is so cool to see. I was looking at some more storyboard stuff online and I think I like some of that more than the final product. I'd buy this book ASAP if I could read it. Too bad Viz or some company didn't put this out in English. 2) The location where Frieza is revived is described as being...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

I just remembered something in a Kanzenshuu article or podcast from around the time the movie came out about Toriyama's script being available for people who went to a Japanese screening of it and they were talking about wanting to get their hands on it. I've tried to find more info on this or see ...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

He said he didn’t feel his script was very fleshed out, but was surprised to see it used basically 1:1. As I recall from a 2015 tweet made by Julian, Fukkatsu no F Director Yamamuro Tadayoshi drew the storyboard in a single month all by himself, so clearly there wasn't even a lot of thought put int...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

As I recall from a 2015 tweet made by Julian, Fukkatsu no F Director Yamamuro Tadayoshi drew the storyboard in a single month all by himself, so clearly there wasn't even a lot of thought put into how to depict the script beyond what Toriyama loosely scripted. It's a terrible shame, because in the ...

Re: Are you sick of Goku?

I'm not sick of Goku, but I've always hoped that the other characters would've played more important roles than they have. Like in the Cell and Buu arcs, you see Krillin and Piccolo playing important parts, for example. And the fact that Goten and Trunks were barely involved in anything for so long ...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

Maybe you're right. If it's been commented on what he has and hasn't done in the past, I don't see why they'd stop now. The 2 main reasons why I made this thread were a lack of hearing any news from him lately on my part and being misled over a mistranslation. And the comments made about the Resurre...

Re: How's Toriyama doing these days?

Thanks for sharing. I hadn't heard of the recent character designs or seen that Toyotaro interview. I guess a lot of where my idea of Toriyama's involvement being an exaggeration comes from is at the beginning of each chapter in the Super manga, he gets the sole writing credit instead of at least s...

How's Toriyama doing these days?

I know he's never been one to put himself out there. There are only a handful of pictures of him and the only video I've seen of him is on a talkshow from the 80s. But I've been hearing surprisingly little from him lately; even for him. Before, whenever there's a new movie, we at least got short int...

Re: What was your first introduction to Dragon Ball?

I heard of Dragon Ball Z in 1st grade before I watched it. Everyone was talking about it, people had shirts of it and were pretending to do kamehamehas and stuff at recess and I had no idea what they were doing or talking about. Then after watching a scary movie late at night on another day, I wante...

Re: “I’m pretty cozy, here...”

I just noticed that the rank was changed to "I'm, pretty, cozy, here...", which is just deeply hilarious. I don't suppose we could get a new rank? I feel like I've been a Namekian Warrior forever and honestly it's a bit too lacking in cutesy for me. EDIT: Wow, this is not the first ...

Re: Where do the dragons go?

I never thought of the dragons as being real beings who go somewhere when they're not being summoned. I always imagined them to be manifestations of energy that is connected to and takes the appearance of the model that their creators made and they're pre-programmed (for lack of a better word) to ac...

It's good to finally know where this came from. I remember when I was 10 years old and getting so hyped up for AF and I continued to believe that it was gonna premiere at any time now for another 2 years.

Re: Was Dragon Ball Super a good anime?

I stopped watching several episodes in, so I dunno if I can give a fair opinion on it. But I didn't like the other stuff that I've seen and I still know what the story is. Had some interesting ideas, but it felt like wasted potential.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

This arc has its problems and isn't perfect but I'm enjoying all the different unexpected plot twists. This is one of the things I love about Dragon Ball and I hope it keeps going a little more. Please don't let Moro get defeated in the next chapter. I want things to keep spiraling out of control li...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I'm enjoying this for the most part. Doesn't feel like a continuation of canon, but more like an okay filler arc or movie. It's doing its job of entertaining me and that's all I can ask for. Still think there are some out of character moments and dialogue here and there, but it's not as bad as it wa...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

One of the best chapters in the manga, if you ask me. I think Toyotaro's getting better at showing intensity in fights and having the characters and the environment look more battle-worn. There are at least a couple cringey moments in a lot of the chapters, but this one was solid. However, I don't ...
