Re: Are Arcs/Sagas written and/or made post-Cell weaker than what came previously?

with Goku dying three times (at Raditz's hand, the battle with Frieza and his sacrifice to stop Cell). Goku never died on Namek. He is knocked unconscious, and that is anime-only, I believe. His appearing from the water right after the wish to Shenron made it look like he died and was resurrected, ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Not to play moderator; but is there any reason for this thread to still be going? It's turned into a complete shit show and you're all not even talking about Vic Mignogna (who's not even involved with Dragon Ball now) anymore. I've seen way tamer threads get locked on this forum. Mike has said that...

Re: What happened to Oob?

I swear some of you guys don't even watch the show or read the manga. As VegettoEX said, Super is taking place between the end of the Majin Boo arc and the tournament seen at the end of Z where Oob appears. Right now, he is simply too young to be mentioned or even useful.

Re: How could a new movie be more successful than DBS: Broly?

I'm not sure it could. Even if they got rid of Nagamine (shit director), a big reason that Broly was as successful as it was is that it was about Broly. Apparently, he's a fan favorite character over here in the U.S. and that's why they suggested him to Toriyama for this movie. Combined with Super ...

Re: Best looking Dragon Ball movie: The Path to Power or Super Broly?

DBS Broly has interesting artistic style that is kinda retro, but i wouldn't consider this movie as even the second best looking movie. Just Battle of Gods and Ressurection 'F' looked a lot better, although it might be my personal taste. You’re crazy if you actually think that. A lot better than Br...

Re: Why was the ToP only 48 minutes?

No idea about the time limit, but I've heard that in storytelling, talking/dialogue is considered a "free action." Meaning that it doesn't count for time or anything similar in the story being told. The rest can be kind of justified by the fact that they're fighters fighting at impossible speeds. Th...

Re: Why Kai 1.0's Kikuchi Score was so limited.

Like what the other guy said, I believe they only used the songs off that 2006 remaster because they were remastered. They had the best sound. When you remember that a good half of that soundtrack's songs were vocal songs, they had maybe 20-30 to choose from for the entire 98 episode series. It was ...

Re: From 1-10, How would you rate the Funimation Dub so far?

About a 5 or 6. Unfortunately, the decisions they keep making with the script are just such overt pandering to the old Toonami audience that we've taken a pretty large step back from Kai. By their own self-admission, their mentality is "Everyone watched it subbed, so we're just doing our thing". Th...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Am I the only one still worried that Toei will censor instances of the middle finger or do a bad remastering? We saw the colors being off for movies 1-13. I want a product like Kai 1.0 in terms of the colors, but not the censorship. I think this is an uphill battle and we shouldn't rest on it, even ...

Re: Would ROF been better with a training sequence for Freeza?

I believe the manga (the 3 chapter adaption for the movie) had a few panels of Freeza training. He wore a sweatshirt with a giant "F" on it, drank protein drinks, and did general workouts. I thought it was funny. I've been bamboozled by fucking dragongarrowlee. >_< But here it is for anyone who has...

Along with not wanting an old villain brought back again, Cooler wasn't mentioned in RoF or Broly. I don't think they care enough.

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?

I think we're quite toxic. There is plenty of assholery in this community (the DB community, not Kanzenshuu). I've been a part of it too. But we are deeply divided on plenty of issues: 1. Kikuchi vs Faulconer 2. GT is good vs GT sucks 3. Yamamuro vs Shintani 4. Toriyama's new contributions suck vs T...

Re: Watching Freeza's scenes in old DBZ filler is pretty funny now in retrospect

Perhaps it is cannon that Goku fell off of snake way, but it just happened off screen? I seem to remember a line in Battle of The Gods where Shuu or Pilaf, I forget which explains that they were turned into children because of a poorly-worded wish. We never actually got to see that happen however. ...

Re: What's the difference between the DVDs & the Blu-rays?

the main reason why Toei relented and backtracked on that plan was due to Toriko not performing well on the Dream 9 time slot in which it had succeeded Kai 1.0 in the wake of it's ending in 2011. Simply put, they needed a quick replacement for the replacement show that was ending it's brief three y...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

This movie should do well based on how amazing it was. Wow. I think it will. I live in a crappy area in Florida. Anime releases are never huge, although MHA got nearly a packed room back in September or whenever it was. I went to my local theater tonight to see Broly and found out the movie sold ou...

Re: What's the difference between the DVDs & the Blu-rays?

The fact that they went with cropped widescreen for TFC/Kai 2.0 on both fronts was a weird decision on Toei's part It's always cheaper to remaster a show in 16:9 than in 4:3. IDK how exactly, but I've read numerous times that it is. Toei gave as little a budget as possible for Boo Kai since it was ...

Re: Watching Freeza's scenes in old DBZ filler is pretty funny now in retrospect

Everything in Kai is cannon to Kai. Except that the scene in Boo Kai where Freeza, Cell, and everyone else in Hell watched Goku's fight with Boo creates a plothole. The scene has Goz and Mez talking about who Goku is when one of the two remarks "he's that guy who fell down Snake Way." That never ha...
