Re: DBZ Screen Shot Posters
Here is what I ended up doing. Didn't come out perfect but I think it came out pretty good! Framed and up on my wall :D https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/705/dEPdxX.jpg Not bad at all! My only critique would be perhaps limiting the number of panels used. It feels like you've got a bunch of pos...

Re: DBZ Screen Shot Posters
Looks like I'm going to have to go with the manga pages instead! Going to print out a few and put them in a frame like the other ones I have. Hopefully it will come out good :) Sounds like a plan and I'm sure they will. Yeah, but there are still a lot to be made. Can't argue with you ther...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Opening Credits
It's Shaken's Nar (写研 ナール). Shaken's former company president was stubborn as hell and hated digital technologies so much that she refused to produce TrueType/OpenType version of their once-industry-standard popular fonts for phototypesetting. As a result, they lost most of their customers and now ...

Re: DBZ Screen Shot Posters
Making high quality posters from screenshots can be tough but you could try using footage from the Level Sets to recreate those camera pans. Here's examples of their video quality: https://i.imgur.com/12YzF09.png https://i.imgur.com/89UY0YD.png On the other hand, I'd suggest using manga panels for ...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue
Thanks, this is totally not so dumb.
I haven't got around to reading the manga in its entirety yet so it's great to see and learn about all the variations. This could even be extended to treatments found in promotional artwork and packaging.

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
Japanese standards are becoming stricter lately, but it's still very rare to see additional censorship in home video releases except for very old contents that include now-considered-extremely-offensive terms such as kichigai (frantic), katawa (crippled), mekura (blind), and izari (lame). It's alwa...

Re: Dragon Ball Dragon Box have redubbed part
Great find, also agree it was probably changed shortly after airing as it ended up as (optical) audio on the Dragon Box. This, if anything, exemplifies the importance of archiving (and of course, sharing). Looking forward to more discoveries like this.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I would've liked to own the Taiwan release of GT but don't know where to buy it. If I'm not mistaken, the same set was available at YesAsia but I can only now find it at Taiwanese retailers . A proxy would probably be your best bet and it could always turn up on eBay or Yahoo! Auctions. As far as I...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Unless they fix this which I highly doubt they will I'll just start my hunt for the Dragon Box, Dragon Box Z and Dragon Box GT wish me luck. FUNi released Dragon Box Z and Dragon Box GT so you'd just need to find a replacement for Dragon Ball: Dragon Box.. maybe the Saga Sets would suit you. It's m...

Thanks everyone, retried with a VPN and saw the post. For anybody else that also can't access them normally, here are all of the comparison images : Almost! Those are the low-rez versions. If you remove the bit of the image URL that determines the resolution, you get the full 1080-sized versions! C...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Just found out about the blog post which seems to have been taken down since . Did anybody save all of the before images? They might be the only way we ever get to see those frames that way. Wait, they took the post down? Nope, i clicked on the link there and the post was still up on my end. Thanks...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I imagine Japan's Blu-rays of the series will probably look more like Animax's HD broadcast of the first TV special, which as far as I know, wasn't censored or repainted like some of their recent movie Blu-rays but could suffer the same fate upon release. You're hoping for way too much. Toei will u...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Although this set looks serviceable from the trailer, for purist videophiles like myself, it's a let down. I wasn't expecting the impossible but know Funimation is capable of doing better in that aspect from previous releases. With the set being geo-blocked and released in limited quantities, I'm gu...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
I couldn't be happier for getting these remasters but you almost can't win with their releases so far. They're available digitally uncensored with (barely) satisfactory audio but physically with (arguably) better sounding audio yet varying changes to their video, one being censorship. Here's hoping ...

Re: Audio differences between DBZ movies on DBox and on drama tapes
Thanks for sharing these intriguing comparisons, reminds me of how you can listen to either the regular audio or score itself on the movies' Japanese LaserDiscs. It's somewhat hard to think differences like this are still being discovered, or at least becoming more known outside of Japan. I wonder i...
