Re: Is anyone annoyed that the revival happened?

It's more the fandom that tries to use Super to pretend GT no longer matters or exists, rather than the franchise creators. Toei et al clearly have no qualms about acknowledging GT or making use of its elements... just look how prominent of a role Super Saiyan 4 still has in Heroes, even being give...

Re: does the ritual make SSG far stronger?

I think so. Someone convinced me of this recently and it makes sense especially regarding Toriyama-san's original 6 - 10 - 15 power scale.

Re: Was it ever explained why Majin Vegeta turned into a stone statue?

I always interpreted it as if he "burned" all his energy, so it is not that he was a solid statue at any time but rather that it was a collection of ashes in the shape of Vegeta's body that "broke" at the fall. If you think about it the human body is approximately 99% comprised of just six elements...

Re: Would It Have Been A Better Idea To Let Gohan Undergo The SSJG Ritual?

Gohan was unreliable. Even after BoG, his power waned so hard that he could barely go Super Saiyan by the time of RoF. It would have honestly been a waste to give him the form. He likely would have just lost it completely after fighting Beerus. Also, by the time of BoG, his fighting technique wasn't...

Re: Have Goku and Vegeta reached their natural limit?

I don't think so. I would be kind of excited if they did, because we can start focusing solely on technique and strategy over pure power. We seem to be headed in that direction so maybe we'll eventually get there, but Dragon Ball seems wedded to the idea of breaking hard limits which the series almo...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

People say it looks like a video game....but I actually say the video game looks better: https://youtu.be/GMaw6afydYw?t=165 The best looking cutscenes from Kakarot look exciting and lack the thick lines used in the Hero trailer, which reminds me of early cell-shaded video games. Yeah the games look...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

A decade after Buu is enough to get us past this midquel timeslot It's technically still the midquel, just at the end of it. Which means the characters are still plot-protected by the EoZ shield. I think they're more plot protected by this being Dragon Ball, the series with Dragon Balls, that are a...

Re: Do You Have a Different Favorite Arc than You've Had in the Past?

I find myself liking the 1st half of the Namek arc way better than the second half which was the continuous Frieza fight. If Namek was split along those lines, then I'd include that first half in my top 3. I actually like that more than the Saiyan arc. The Saiyan arc was also a favorite, but that's ...

Re: With DB targeting a more international audience nowadays, do you see a minority someday becoming part of the main ca

I was thinking of it as more of a Mandalorian-style thing where his inner thoughts are more mysterious; we see his exploits moreso than hear his thoughts. His scenes during the Saiyan arc were legit the best scenes. The anime added much to it during the training scenes. His anime feats made him see...

Re: How strong is SSj Goku post BoG?

The manga never picked up on the whole absorb SSG into oneself like the anime and BoG and RoF did. So his SS is slightly superior to Z SS. The anime went with RoF's idea that his base form was like his SSG from BoG or something like that, and used it for non-official arcs, like fillers on planet Po...

Re: Do You Have a Different Favorite Arc than You've Had in the Past?

So I've just started something I've been meaning to do for awhile, which is watching all of DB/DBZ subbed (I've seen bits of it subbed, but nowhere close to the entire anime). My feelings on the arcs are largely based on memory of the anime I've watched plus reading the manga last year. So I'll see...

Re: At what point in the story did the characters look and feel their most powerful?

Basically at what point would you say the portrayal of characters being strong reached its peak? I'd say on Namek. The hits Goku and Frieza landed sounded so loud and powerful, they were both really bulky and intimidating, and there were times when other characters couldn't even follow their moveme...

The 23rd Tournament was my undisputed favorite, but the 22nd had slowly crept up to its level.
I feel the exact same. The Cell arc used to be my favorite.

Re: How would you fix anime Zamasu arc while keeping the same plotline?

I'm surprised by the amount of people here who think they should have gone back and forth from the Future only twice. That Zamasu had a 2-0 lead before the final battle makes him so savage and badass, and the fact that the protagonists, even the second time, got stomped, made the situation even mor...

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread

This is correct, and actually pretty obvious now that I think on it. Videl was top-tier competition (excluding the main Z cast) in the 25th, but the caliber was so much lower in general from previous tournaments (again, excluding the main cast). I remember this being stated now in the manga. I'm no...

Re: How would you fix anime Zamasu arc while keeping the same plotline?

The manga version is great. Only thing I'd fix is the ending: Trunks stays so he can find a way to revive his timeline (I'd get rid ot that stupid "two Trunks and two Mai's" thing). This and later he can fight in Tournament of Power to repay everyone for help in fighting Goku Black. ^^This is a pri...

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread

Videl (pigtails) vs Chi-Chi (23rd Budokai) Chi-Chi and easily IMO. While Videl would have done well in the 21st TB (possibly losing only to Goku and Roshi), by the time of the 23rd, the competition had grown at least 3x more fierce. Chi-Chi made it to the quarterfinals of that and lost to the champ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

I always assumed Trunks was using, or had experienced the same kind of boost, probably after fighting Black so much and losing all the time, his father did when Beerus slapped Bulma. Geets' boost was permanent, seeing how his SS2 was still above SS3 in that same arc. Besides, we know too little abo...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

I might be misremembering things, but the point of Super Saiyan Grade 4 (also known as Super Saiyan Full Power) was to get rid of the drawbacks Super Saiyan caused. Not to "yield more power than before". Your memory's fine. That was the point of the mastered/full power/grade 4 form, but the effect ...
