Re: Your opinion about Dragon Ball AI Project (DBAI)

There seems to be way too much blue in the image and I can't stand it. It doesn't look good at all and makes me wonder if the monitor used for this project was even calibrated properly. To top it off it looks like it suffers from the Funimation problem of looking artificially sharp but it lacks deta...

Re: Does Toei Remaster Better?

The Toie masters look far better. Colors look far more natural and less blown out and the detail is significantly higher, OFC Toie should have just put the streaming versions of these masters that didn't have DNR and weren't censored on disc and it would have completely blown away anything Funimatio...

Re: Orange bricks: any reason to buy them these days?

Was there ever really a good reasson to buy them? It's been said many times but they were once the only affordable way of owning the entire series. It's easy to forget how expensive the singles were now that most of them can be found so cheaply second hand, and they were incomplete. The orange bric...

Re: Orange bricks: any reason to buy them these days?

Was there ever really a good reasson to buy them? I don't think i could even watch them if offered for free, let alone pay for them. The problems with this set are too numerous and large to ignore. These would look worse than ever nowadays on a 4K display upscaled. Just thinking about how bad the fo...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

So ,TLDR: Give me a DBZ remaster with the colors that Kai and the detail and grain that LS have. That would be a perfect DBZ releasse. Level sets grain isn't ideal at all. https://twitter.com/FemboyFilms/status/1325502101905002496 this is a better amount of 16mm grain than level sets and it's also ...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

If someone could just combine the colors of Kai with the grain and detail of the Level Sets and you would pretty much have the definitive releasse right there. I really have no problem with a grainless image but the simple fact is that DBZ was shot on film. That is a FUNDAMENTAL aspect of the show a...

Re: is there any reason to get the season blu ray sets anymore?

No. The new releasse is crap but it passes the minimal bar of being in the correct adpect ratio. Generally think that the image quality is also improved from the seasson sets. Still far below the Level sets and even the Dragon Boxes of course but not the worst option. Not something i would ever pay ...

Re: Best way to watch the English Dub for the first time?

The english dub of DB/DBZ and GT is objectively bad. I wouldn't bother Super and Kai are just mediocre. Why even waste your time? Just watch the original. You're missing the point of why the OP is wanting to watch them in the first place. I understand his point but it seems like such huge investmen...

These colors seem way too blue. Doesn't seem natural at all. The lack of detail because of DNR is awful.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Level Sets or Dragon Boxes?

Seems like Level Sets win in terms of image quality and color accuracy. However i can't stand the lack of Japaneses title cards and Next Episode previews. So i think i would still prefer The Dragon Boxes even if the Levels weren't cancelled. What needs to happen is for Toie to remaster this series p...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Lately i have been watching the Dragon Boxes with RGB on a CRT tv and the result looked fantastic. The grain wasn't as apparent when looking at a 480p screen, since it wasn't upscaled to 1080 or 4K. The detail tended to be a bit more blended in with the background and it gave the show a nice soft or...

Was Dragon Ball mastered at 6500K?

I was looking over at Dragon Box footage hooked up through RGB on my CRT and it looked nice. Of course most of us all know that the colors of the original film negatives have faded over the years and the colors aren't what they were back when the episodes were produced. So it got me thinking if some...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

The more time passes the more i just come to realize that Super wasn't good in the slightest. Even the things that i midly enjoyed back then when it was airing, i kind of only liked them because they were part of new DB material. So there was a bit of a "honeymoon" period going on there but now ther...

Re: What would be your ideal Dragon Ball home release?

Basically have all the content that the Dragon Boxes had. Next Episode previews and original title cards. Preferably rearrange the order in which the credits and Next Episode previews play, so that it is closer to the original broadcast. Have the Original Broadcast Audio. This is a must. Having the ...

That's because your arguments are based on a fundamental misconception about the nature of this story, making debating your statements point by point a waste of time. It's more productive to cut to the fundamental flaw that informs most your statements. Plus you were cherry picking a certain part o...

Re: Is it time to accept Faulconer OST did it better than the original?

There is really nothing that different in tone between the Saiyan arc and the 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi arc. There is nothing that different in terms of tone between the Piccolo Daimao arc and the Majin Boo arc. They are all relatively on the same level on that front, which is why DBZ and DB had the sa...

Re: Is it time to accept Faulconer OST did it better than the original?

I have to agree with Gaffer Tape. With DB in particular fans of the original version have pretty much no good way to watch the show even in 4:3 legally without buying used limited quantity DVDs from 2003/2009, if they didn't happen to already own those, and even then you would be getting suboptimal ...
